SPEND A DAY WITH ME | "Achievements + Rewards!"

"As a college student, every passing days are allotted to do something productive in order to attain daily progress. Procrastination and laziness must not be tolerated as it will slowly lead to series of downfalls. Therefore, self-discipline and determination should always be in mind."

Stepping up to college isn't all about having high numerical grades and smooth journey of complying to such dreams. Every students will face problems regarding to physical, spiritual, emotional and mental well-being. Additionally, in financial aspect.

Whether a student wants and strive harder to always have PASSING remarks, it will not be as simple as counting 1, 2, 3. Hence, make a habit of doing our very best is still highly advisable to make every impossibilities possible.

Attaining passed grades is one of my greatest goals since I started studying. With all of my perseverance and hard-smart-working, I had a good sets of numerical grades. The results? Had became a top student since primary school.

In college, there is no longer a set of top students (i.e. Top 1-10). Thus, students still work competitively [with good intentions] to ...

" ... have good records at the Transcript of Records (TOR), avoid problems and hassles, to be included at the list of Academic Scholars primarily for the cash incentives. Most of all, to graduate on-time and acquire distinctions."

It's been years of spending life at the university as a BSA Agriculture student. It is not easy and will never be. But still, I am able to overcome each difficulties coming along the way. For almost 4-years, I consistently receive high grades. Guess what, I even don't have "3.00" in my Certificate of Grades.

Everything almost go perfectly. In first semester of Academic Year 2022-2023, I got grades ranging at 1.25 to 2.00. Looks so great that it made me palpitate due to extreme satisfaction. Not until I saw this unacceptable remark:

To make the reasons short, we aren't informed that we will have this remark. Supposedly, we must attain 75% in our thesis in order be given with passing grades. However, the department didn't informed us beforehand especially given that we are still working out our individual thesis outlines + presentation. I did not lack but the department does.

At the end, we, scholars of the Department of Crop Protection demanded for a way to remove this "INC" remark. As a scholar, this kind of remark including NG (No Grade), Dropped or Forced Dropped (D or FD) is strictly prohibited. Or else, we will lose our scholarships.

In there, we are given a week (February 06-10) to comply through presenting a review article about our studies. However, instead of presenting a related study, our thesis adviser instructed us to have a mock defense of our own thesis outlines. Reason? To prepare us ahead of time.

And, this is the exact reason behind my extreme busyness this week:

From Monday to Wednesday, I worked out my PowerPoint Presentation and upon doing a guidelines on what to present. For Thursday, all I did is to practice a lot.

In this blog, let me narratively share what I've been through yesterday.

In here, I will share Friday's highlights:

  • Mock defense at AGRIC 3398B;
  • Mounting and morphometric identification of fungi and bacteria; and
  • "Rewarding myself!"

Friday (02.10.2023) came. By 9:10AM, I arrived at the Diagnostic Laboratory to do some early preparations and to practice. My co-advisees don't want to lead the presentation, so I did! Among us first, I am the one to present my study:

After almost 25-minutes, I successfully and smoothly did it! My adviser even complimented my PowerPoint and how I deliver the details. And, here's the proof:

As I did beyond expectations, my co-advisees' works were compared to their works as they came unprepared. Plus, holding papers to read during presentation is a big NO.

Around 1:30PM, we proceeded at the Soil Science Room to diagnose the isolated pathogens on the Petri plates. Look at the stuffs we've got here, it made me feel so in love!

Doing "mounting and morphometry" are undeniably exciting but quite challenging. Imagine, I had picked a good colony of pathogens but it formed bubbles upon placing the cover slips. Gosh! That's really frustrating.

Due to extreme busyness in academics, I failed to attend to my blogging tasks. Therefore, I fasten up my moves to finish my pending tasks at the laboratory. Around 5:10PM, I am already on the way home. Finally!

CLOSING THOUGHTS

After spending a day at the Diagnostic Laboratory, I believe that I deserve some treats as it is also vital to "reward ourselves as we worked hard."

And to simply celebrate my successful presentation, I dropped by at the city proper to buy a pack of fishballs to satisfy my craving.

And, here's a simple treat from Mama. As per to her, she bought it because she knows that I will garner an achievement today. Thanks for being a supportive mother, Mama!

Aside from satisfying myself from those foods, this had been the greatest reward I had received today. Such an inspiration to push more luck at blogging:

Before I end this blog, let me remind us all to "always celebrate each achievements." We deserve every progress, so treats does. ✨
