An Autumn Afternoon Interlude

Aside from homestead harvest stuff, I have been spending my mornings creating my very first email campaign for my website that I have had for over a year.

Yes, I am a bit slow.

Well, not really slow, it was more that I was a bit over-obligated, so I had to spend a few months un-obligating myself.

But that's a whole other blog post.

Anyway, part of my whole life restructuring, along with getting plenty of rest and self-care, includes allocating my precious time to projects that truly matter to me. My author website and various books that I have had in the works for years are one of those projects.

That said, bootstrapping an entire author website, making an opt-in to newsletter for free pdf e-book popup, and setting up an email service and said newsletter, while not as hard as years ago, is still a pretty interesting adventure seeing how I have absolutely no idea what I am doing.

Which of course means that I have to learn as I go.

Which of course means it is taking a while.

And my brain hurts.

The hubs, while I have been working on this project, has been out working in his woodshop and forge. He's doing similar big brain things, just on another creative playing field.

And when I finally threw up my hands after making some progress along with a few setbacks and went to the gym to run and lift it out, that I came home to him whittling a spoon on the porch in the beautiful autumn sun.

I sat next to him, smiling contentedly as my muscles quieted down (I ran a lot today), and he suddenly blurted,

"I'm taking you to get something to eat."

Like he got an argument in return.

A short while later we rolled through our town's new drive-thru burger shack, and after a few more minutes we were gliding down to the lakeside park in our town, bag of bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and fry sauce sitting on the console between us.

The hub's mood improved as we drove towards the lake from the stand as he was sipping a huckleberry milkshake that was honestly larger than my head. I burst into a large smile when I saw that there was only one person at our little lakeside park, we basically had the whole grassy retreat to ourselves.

Well, us and the Canadian geese.

The next half hour we spent in each other's company was just glorious. The frustrations of the day dissolved with each bite of perfectly cooked burger we took. Our conversation ebbed and flowed around all manner of topics as we dipped our crispy fries into some very tangy and tasty fry sauce. It was just so dang pleasant.

I am so thankful to have these little moments again. After being so over scheduled for so many years and not having my spouse home with us for half a year, I feel like I've been given a gift!

And tomorrow when I am in the land of API keys and integration applications I'll remember what I have to look forward too😊

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's not dropped in goose droppings which really is saying something iPhone.

I swear I feel more rested just having read this post!!!

We do over-obligate ourselves all the time and for years at a time! I never realized I was tired until I buried a parent, after caring for my family and my parents for months and months... then when I stopped, I fell apart. Literally. I was so tired.

I guess our bodies keep us on task, especially when we are depended upon. I am in the process of delegating some of the obligations (especially the extended family ones, where there is a gazillion of us!)

I am so glad you have made peace with yourself. We deserve to be able to breathe and feel good every single day. We are so bent on doing everything, we might forget that nobody does everything. :) Tonight is pizza night (I no longer cook on the night I put the MarketFriday post together) It is my gift to myself. I read yours and am so proud of you. You are doing great things with your new time! xoxo

I can hardly wait to see this site!

Ooh, I love the delegation word! I am so glad to hear that you are doing that too! The world needs well-rested and cared for DS's and Kats!

And I adore pizza, I hope it was beyond yum, and look at you treating yourself while you treat us all with MarketFriday awesomeness, I wish I could eat a slice and discuss the post with ya!

But since I can't, here's a bit of digi-pie for ya!

!PIZZA

And as soon as I work out the kinks in my site, I will so, so let you know where to take a gander at it😊

Hope you are having the most lovely evening!

I needed too. The burnout was real and I need to take better care of myself as well as taking care of the troops.

It was beyond yum! :) Doesn't everything taste delicious when you don't have to make it? Oh thank you!

!PIZZA is the best!

I can hardly wait to see the site! I will bet it is as fun as you are!❤️

I am so, so glad to hear you are taking better care of yourself, that makes me almost purr lol!

And I so agree about !PIZZA being the best😁

And as soon as I get everything lined out on that site I will so share it with you!😊

Hope you are having a beyond splendid day, full of flowers and cooked for you comestibles!

You are blessed to have a husband who obviously cares about you and thinks up nice things to do for you. Hope you managed to not step in the goose poo in the park. The little park across from the hardware store used to be called "Dog Poop Park" for good reason, and I'm thinking this one could be nicknamed "Goose Poo Park."

It's been so dry for so long that most of the goose poo at Goose Poo Park was rather petrified lol! So I managed to avoid shoe soiling!

And I am pretty thankful for him, even if he is a bit on the crotchety side😉😊

Hope you are enjoying the last of our warm spell, today is garlic planting day here!

!PIZZA

And a nice ending to the day! Imagine, a huckleberry shake as big as your head.... :))

First off, the pictures are wonderful, very peaceful to view.
I think we all go through that feeling of being overwhelmed with life, women especially have to wear so many different hats. I think you are on the right track now and I wish you all the best with your project.
Enjoy the day @generikat

Aww, thank you so much @farm-mom😊

You are so right about the wearing of the multitude of hats, I am definitely more than ready to lighten the load. It feels good to be making progress at least in that department.

Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you have the best weekend!

!PIZZA

What great pictures you took, I hope everything goes well with this user you are creating, I hope the hamburger gives you strength to continue in your projects.

Thank you so much @mundomanaure! I feel pretty strength filled, as I got to eat hamburgers two days in a row lol! Hope you are having a great evening😊
