Let The Sun Shine In!

After spending a solid three hours doing math and writing a discussion post comparing and contrasting two articles we were required to read about Critical Race Theory (One heavily in favor and one heavily criticizing it), well, I needed a bit of a break.

My mind was a whirl with themes of divisionist power grabs and social construct caused societal dysfunction, so when I looked outside and saw something miraculous, that the sun was shining, well, I grabbed my shoes and bolted.

The Corg and I strolled in the crisp late winter air, basking in the warm rays greedily like the UV-deprived organisms that we are. It was glorious!

Winters around here have changed a lot since I was a kid. In those long begotten days, it would snow a good snow, and then the temp would dip and we'd have several days of frigid sunshine-filled days.

For the last few years however, it has been this weird, Pacific-coastal sort of gray and misty vibe around here. Look, I have days where I put on some Sunny Day Real Estate and exist in a minor key, all gray and melancholy with a coffee in one hand and treatise on the injustices of the American Empire in the other.

However, most days I am a more of a Walking on Sunshine sort of organism, so these long, dreary, gray days of winter that we have been experiencing for the last few years are sorta a bummer man.

One nice side effect of being sucked into the gray is that I have been thinking about escaping to the not grey. A foray from the gray shall be a great day! Recently, I discovered that I can take Space-A trips from United States military installations to various destinations throughout the world. It's a little over a year until my son graduates from highschool, and then that adventure time is going to be enacted. I've always wanted to take a flight on a Galaxy C-5 or C-130. The hubs says its over-rated, but I think that's just that one time he spent 24 hours in an orange net jump seat to Iraq. I need to experience it for myself!

Plus, what if the flight is diverted for like, reasons! I could end up anywhere, imagine what an adventure that might be?

I mean, my current adventure level is trying to navigate out of my currently in the throws of break up (spring thaw) driveway. Getting diverted to Guam sounds much more exciting, Because you know there'd be a ton of sun involved!

Now, if I can only figure out how to sneak the corg on board...

For now though, I must jet. There's a community meal to serve tonight and I probably should spend a bit of time getting ready for that!

And as most of the time, all of the images in this post were taken on the author's always a bit on the warm side iPhone.

Thanks so much @ewkaw and @qurator!

You are so right! The seasons have definitely changed quite a bit over the years! And thank you so much for the kind words about my photos, I hope you get to venture into some wild woodlands some day!

Qué tengas un lindo día!!

I would not want to return to the gray dome days of Michigan. I wish I had made the move to sunshine much sooner.

My snowbird days are rapidly approaching! As much as I love crisp, fluffy snow days, my carcass functions much better in the warmth, and I am so happy to hear that you are enjoying your southern sunshine status😊

I hope I could get stuck in the gray just like this someday
Being here will be a very good feeling
It looks good over there

If I remember correctly, it's pretty warm all the time where you live, right? I bet a cool, crisp stroll in the woods where the temperature is just above freezing would feel pretty nice for sure!

In March 2019 and Feb 2020 I spent a few days in Arizona at the home of my snowbird sister. It was such a wonderful treat! No mud, no ice, no parkas or heavy boots. And it was warm enough to go out and walk in the sunshine without coughing. I think I wouldn't mind becoming a snowbird, too.

Here it’s been just enough snow to make everything dreary, then it melts during the day only to repeat the next day. And just cold enough and windy to make being outside not fun.

I’m glad you are able to enjoy being outside!
