Nasi Lemak Consecutively!!!

The day my husband flew from Philippines back to his homeland, at the airport, he straight away craving for Malaysia's famous food — 'nasi lemak'. Nasi Lemak in direct translation is fatty rice, that's because it is cooked using fresh coconut milk and usually comes with delicious 'sambal' roasted peanuts and anchovies, paired with egg and a protein either chicken or beef.

Hometown Hainan Coffee House

At the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, we walked around the search for a shop which was still open and with nasi lemak. It was almost 10pm so we understood most shops were about to close. Finally, we found one at Hometown Hainan Coffee.

Without hesitation, he ordered his nasi lemak with chicken rendang, rendang meaning cooked with Malay fragrant spices. He was so happy and satisfied.

Look at his jovial face!

The nasi lemak came with a huge portion of chicken rendang, a generous amount of coconut milk rice too, the sambal was so kicking delicious. And he loved the pappadam snack also.

The eldest son also ordered his nasi lemak but with curry chicken.

My youngest son and I shared a plate of poached Hainan chicken rice. Everything was very delicious!!!

The next night, my husband was still craving for nasi lemak, so after I settled the kids' dinner, we went out for nasi lemak, hoping this round his cravings would be 100% satisfied. This one was famous in Wangsa Maju, people queue up for it noon and night. It is famous for its super delicious fried village chicken, and also its fragrant steamed coconut rice, also the beef rendang here would literally cause you to fall for it. Soft tender full of aromatic beef rendang.

This is a humble stall at the side of the road, under trees.

The place is fully open-air concept, so very good ventilation and lots of chairs and tables.

When we reached, we needed to queue.

Here was the spread of food: beef rendang, curry chicken, squid sambal, eggs, chilli potatoes. And the famous turmeric fried village chicken. The meat of this chicken is different from the usual farm chicken, so one got to taste authentic chicken meat.

I took the fried chicken and chilli potatoes and eggs. Husband took the beef rendang and squid sambal. Later on, we mix and match between our two plates so that we got to eat all types. Yay!

It was a good slow night eating dinner together after he was away for 10 days to Philippines. We got to chat about our future because looks like I need to devote more time to take care of my Aunt who is 81 years old now and having difficulty in walking. We may not know how our future lies but we know we can place our future in God's hands.

One of the most significant Christian quality is, leave it to God. Aunt will do just fine, keep your family time balance and not stress yourself too much, that will be the ultimate goal.
