Hello, my dear Hivers!
Today, I’m excited to share with you the fun (and slightly chaotic) preparations we had for our upcoming role play in one of our minor subjects. It was a day full of creativity, teamwork, laughter, and of course — food!
Since we had a lot of time to prepare, our group decided to meet up and do everything at one of our group member’s houses. We thought it would be more convenient and productive to work in one place, especially because our role play requires props, costumes, and a nice background — all of which will be graded.
Our original plan was to meet at 8:00 AM, but as you might guess, “Filipino time” kicked in. Some of our members arrived much later, around 10:30 AM. But we weren’t too stressed — delays like this are pretty common and expected. Since I was the first one to arrive and the location was a bit tricky to find, I decided to go out and meet the others who were still trying to locate the house.
Some of them came carrying cardboard, which we badly needed for making our props, while others brought extra art materials to help with the cutting and designing. By around 10:00 PM, believe it or not, some members still hadn’t arrived. And to make things more interesting — we didn’t even have a solid plan yet because the “mastermind” of our group, the one with the main ideas, was still on their way!
To pass the time, we played games on an iPad just to keep things fun and avoid getting too bored while waiting.
Minutes later, everyone arrived, and we could finally get started. One of our groupmates even made a quick stop to buy some materials on the way so that we could begin without any more interruptions.
We began discussing our plan and deciding what tasks needed to be done first.
Our first output? An eye mask — since our costume theme involved chickens. Good thing one of my group mates was good at making it — I ended up borrowing theirs as a pattern for mine since we had the same costume design.
By 12 PM, we were still figuring out what to eat. We were already pretty hungry. One of our kind groupmates shared some food with us, saying she was sure we were already hungry. I gladly accepted and thanked her, of course!
Some of the others offered to go out and buy more food since one of them had a motorcycle. We all pitched in some money for the budget.
While they were gone, the rest of us continued working on the costumes and props.
Not long after, they returned with the food — but it still needed to be cooked. So, we decided to cook everything right there. I offered to help even though I’m not exactly the best in the kitchen (haha!). Thankfully, we were able to buy enough ingredients to cook around three dishes. And good thing, too — several of our groupmates knew how to cook well.
We cooked outside because my classmate’s house was still under construction.
And since it was hot outside, I offered to hold the umbrella and carry the plates to make things easier for her.
Some of our groupmates were also cooking other dishes, so yes, we ended up with a good variety of food.
After all the food was cooked, we finally ate together.
And that’s all for this blog, my dear Hivers! Thank you so much for reading and joining me in this little behind-the-scenes look at our preparation. Until next time!
