A great day and behind the scenes [Esp-Eng]

Aunque no soy muy de fiestas porque disfruto más los planes en los que hay pocas personas, estuvimos inventando hacer una reunión social por motivo de despedida de una persona a la que queremos mucho. Esta persona se mudará pronto y, como muestra de nuestro cariño, varios amigos y yo planificamos invitar a sus amigos cercanos y, por supuesto, asistir nosotros también, para crear un lindo recuerdo que quede grabado en nuestras memorias aunque estemos lejos.

Por la misma razón de que no soy muy de fiestas, nunca en mi vida, ni siquiera en mi boda, había sido parte de los encargados de planificar y llevar a cabo una. La verdad es que nos tomó unas dos semanas planificar todo: asignar a algunos para que llevaran lo que estaba en sus posibilidades a la fiesta o simplemente contribuir con un material para preparar lo que se comería, que en este caso era el muy famoso en Venezuela arroz frito para fiestas y pasapalos de diferentes tipos.

Although I'm not much of a party person because I enjoy plans with fewer people more, we came up with the idea of throwing a social gathering to say goodbye to someone we love very much. This person is moving away soon, and as a token of our affection, several friends and I planned to invite their close friends and, of course, attend ourselves, to create a beautiful memory that will remain etched in our minds even though we will be far away.

For the same reason that I'm not much of a party person, I had never in my life, not even at my wedding, been part of the team responsible for planning and carrying out a party. The truth is that it took us about two weeks to plan everything: assigning some people to bring what they could to the party or simply contribute ingredients to prepare the food, which in this case was the very famous Venezuelan fried rice for parties and different types of appetizers.

Como eran muchas las personas que estaban invitadas, este plan fue un poco complicado de organizar; sin embargo, la gente por lo general ama las fiestas, sobre todo cuando son para una persona a la que quieren mucho, así que todos estuvieron dispuestos a apoyarnos con algo. En cuanto al arroz chino, de eso nos encargamos solo cinco personas; lo hicimos un día antes para que nos pudiera dar tiempo de arreglarlo todo para la fiesta. Así que ahí nos tenían: solo cinco personas picando aliños, picando pollo, salchichas y tocinetas para preparar una gran olla de arroz que alcanzara para 150 personas.

Una de las personas que se estaba encargando ya tenía experiencia en preparar comidas para tantas personas y eso fue una ventaja. Sin embargo, nos tomó un montón de tiempo picar todo y preparar todo para que el arroz pudiera hacerse. Nos dedicamos a eso toda la tarde, noche y casi la madrugada.
Pero finalmente el esfuerzo tuvo sus frutos porque el arroz quedó superrico, y la experiencia en sí fue bastante llevadera a pesar de que estábamos cansados y todos queríamos tirar la toalla y dejar todo así en algún punto de la noche, porque estábamos entre amigos y la vida parece ser más llevadera cuando tienes alguien con quién bromear mientras haces una tarea seria.

Since there were so many people invited, this plan was a little complicated to organize; however, people generally love parties, especially when they are for someone they care about deeply, so everyone was willing to help us out with something. As for the Chinese rice, only five of us took care of that; we made it the day before so we would have time to get everything ready for the party. So there we were: just five people chopping seasonings, chopping chicken, sausages, and bacon to prepare a large pot of rice that would be enough for 150 people.

One of the people in charge already had experience preparing meals for so many people, which was an advantage. However, it took us a long time to chop everything and prepare everything so that the rice could be made. We spent the entire afternoon, evening, and almost the entire night doing this.
But in the end, the effort paid off because the rice turned out delicious, and the experience itself was quite bearable even though we were tired and all wanted to throw in the towel and leave everything as it was at some point during the night, because we were among friends and life seems more bearable when you have someone to joke around with while doing a serious task.

Y sí, terminamos tarde y al día siguiente tuvimos que despertarnos temprano para seguir encargándonos de esa y otras responsabilidades, pero finalmente llegó el día. Al llegar, todos estaban ahí, todos felices y compartiendo con nuestros amigos que pronto se van a mudar lejos. Hubo juegos de mesa, hubo música y bailes, pero sobre todo hubo mucha comida. Esto me sorprendió muchísimo porque por lo general no sobra comida en una reunión social, pero en esta todos quedaron satisfechos e incluso rechazaban la comida cuando íbamos a servirla porque ya no les entraba más. Eso fue algo bueno porque ninguno, en nuestro turno, murió de hambre.

El caso es que sí, las fiestas requieren de mucho esfuerzo para ser planificadas y para que salgan bien, sobre todo cuando hay mucha gente invitada. El proceso puede ser un poco estresante y a medio camino provoca dejarlo todo y olvidarlo; sin embargo, cuando ves que todos disfrutan, la pasan bien y, además, las personas por las que hiciste la fiesta están agradecidas y contentas, eso hace que valga totalmente la pena. se olvida la trasnochada, el cansancio y el olor a aliños de tus manos, y solo queda la satisfacción de haber contribuido a que un lindo recuerdo se creara.

And yes, we finished late and had to wake up early the next day to continue taking care of that and other responsibilities, but finally the day arrived. When we arrived, everyone was there, happy and sharing with our friends who were soon moving away. There were board games, music, and dancing, but above all, there was a lot of food. This surprised me a lot because usually there isn't any food left over at a social gathering, but at this one everyone was satisfied and even refused food when we went to serve it because they couldn't eat any more. That was a good thing because none of us, in turn, died of hunger.

The fact is that parties require a lot of effort to plan and make them go well, especially when there are a lot of guests. The process can be a little stressful and halfway through, you feel like giving up and forgetting about it. However, when you see that everyone is enjoying themselves, having a good time, and the people you threw the party for are grateful and happy, it makes it all worthwhile. You forget about the late nights, the exhaustion, and the smell of seasonings on your hands, and all that remains is the satisfaction of having contributed to creating a beautiful memory.

Debo decir (no porque yo hay sido parte de los planificadores), que la fiesta estuvo genial, pasamos una tarde muy divertida en la por supuesto hubo mucha comida deliciosa incluida, porque siempre en los mejores planes hay algo de comida rica. El día en general estuvo lleno de esa ansiedad que no genera tanto malestar, sino expectativas de que salga bien todo, y no haya inconvenientes. Felizmente no los hubo y lo único que hicimos fue divertirnos y pasarla bien con nuestros amigos.

I must say (not because I was one of the planners) that the party was great. We had a very fun afternoon, which of course included lots of delicious food, because the best plans always include good food. The day in general was filled with that kind of anxiety that doesn't cause so much discomfort, but rather expectations that everything will go well and there will be no problems. Fortunately, there weren't any, and all we did was have fun and enjoy ourselves with our friends.
