Short Walk on a Wet Road: Checking a New Thrift Shop in the Market, The Hardworking Food Vendors, and a Cheap Hopia Ube

A light rain can't stop us from roaming around a place, especially if we can only visit this place when we have an appointment somewhere. It's raining when we left home, that's also the reason why we brought an umbrella. So that we can roam around freely in some places and make the most of our visit here. ┏(^0^)┛

The park is one of the shortcuts to reach the market. We want to go there to buy something. And while walking to get there, we stop by in different places and shop, those shops are really just good at getting someone's attention.

We're walking really slowly here because, as you can see, the road is very wet, we don't really want to slip and fall down on the ground. And what I'm so thankful for in this rain is that the road has just a few vehicles on it. It seems like lots of people are too lazy to go outside. Lol. That's what I always feel whenever it's raining, lol.

This particular shop, Sara, caught my attention too. The last time I got inside that shop was when I had a meet-up with my college friends, and Ferds treats us to Jollibee. It's just a part of our bonding time. Whoa, it's been a long time, though. That was before the pandemic, I think.

We continue our walk until we reach the town's capital. I'm actually jealous of the owner of those vehicles here, they can go anywhere as long as they have a license and they know how to drive.

IMG_20241113_151810.jpg

Unfortunately, I don't have both, lol. I can't still convince myself to drive. Lol

So, here's our first stop, in a thrift shop that sells secondhand clothes. And they are on sale -40 or $0.68 of any item on the left corner of this shop.

IMG_20241113_152849.jpg

Then on the right side, they have these New Arrival items, which are more expensive than those on the other side, they range from 100 to 150, or $1.70 to $2.56.

I noticed that, after a week or more, they lower the price of these new items. I think they do it after getting their initial investment or something. At least their items will not rot, unlike some thrift shops that I know.

After a quick stop in the thrift shop, we then visit the market to check some items, including our favorite bread.

IMG_20241113_154048.jpg

And here's that bread. We arrived there at the perfect time because it is still hot. When it's this hot, it is a little bit crunchy. This Binangkal bread is fried to perfection! Yum!

We also stopped by in this part of the market. I saw this small food cart here selling Filipino foods. They all look delicious, but we decided to eat somewhere. Lol. I want to try, but I'm afraid that it will get spoiled in our bag, especially since we may spend our entire day in this town.

IMG_20241113_154717.jpg

There's more food stalls here that sell different snacks. I hope they got a lot of sales that day.

IMG_20241113_154925.jpg

Special mention to this madam, who's also busy selling Kakanin. Rain or shine, she will sell her kakanin no matter what. I bought some to her before, but because I already buy bread, I didn't buy kakanin from her. Maybe next time we are really tight on a budget, eh.

IMG_20241113_155244.jpg

And look at those snacks made with bananas. I saw a camote cue too. These snacks are the most favorite of some Filipinos here. Especially, they can really fulfill your hungry stomach.

Anyways, moving on, we're on our way to the wet market when I saw this man waiting patiently for someone to buy on him. That small cart there is his, and he sells different kinds of stuff, mostly girly stuff. Most people buy online now for their things, but I wish a lot of people can still buy from him. I hope he gets more customers so that he can go back home with a happy smile.

After that long walk in the market, we decided to finish our walk and go back to the meeting place. We already had our fun time in the market, so it's time to go back. By the way, here's the Ube Hopia we had as a dessert after our lunch. I will rate this 1 out of 10. I don't like the texture and Mama said she can't explain how it taste, lol.

Most people buy online now for their things

This is true. Most malls in US are closing due to online platforms. I do really hope some will buy.

Yesuuuu, but its more crunchy sya, ang sarap nya kainis lalo if it filled din with sesame seeds ehe.

I really hope di mangyari sa Pilipinas ang ganyan. Nakakalungkot especially fir those small business owner ba.
