Christmas is arguably the most exciting season ever. Whether you are a person who joins in on the celebration or not, you must find the entire atmosphere really perfect and lovely. At least, if not for anything else, but for the mere fact that you have a few days of break. So far, I'm having a good time with enjoying the holiday although I still get to work. I even worked on Christmas day. Well, that did not smear or spoil the day for me as all went well.
All my Christmas holidays have been very memorable. And I should say that it gets better with each new year. I grew up travelling in company of my parents and siblings every year to the village. Usually we went by the twentieth or twenty-first day of the month of December. We all looked forward to it because we always had a good time, and we got to see our extended family members again. There was always so much to eat and drink, and my cousins, siblings, and I bonded and went around the community together.
It is a little difficult for me to just think of one experience that does it better for me than others, but I'll share this one that happened years ago that was funny and emotional.
Every year, a football tournament is held between all the villages in my community. On the 25th of December, the finals are played between the two qualifying villages. That year, the qualifying villages were my mother and father's village, respectively. I mean, my parents were from neighboring villages in the community. It's less than two minutes' walk from my dad's house in the village to my mom's.
Two of my older siblings and I always join in to play for the finals whenever my dad's side qualified(which was literally every yrar). That year too, we were players for my dad's village. On the day of the game, our team played so well that we won against my mum's village. It was jubilation galore as the youth went about the village beating drums and receiving gifts.
Back at home, my mum and her siblings lashed at us. It wasn't anything serious but it was so hilarious. Before we knew it, my mum and dad went into rounds of making fun of each other's village(this is always fun to watch)
From that day, whenever I went over to my mum's side or anyone from her place saw me especially the elderly, they'll first compliment how good I was on the pitch and then proceed to ask me if I didn't know that I was equally from my mum's side. Some would even ask why my siblings and I did not share ourselves between the two villages. I couldn't even explain that i hadn't made the selection.
As much as a lot of people knew me(us), that game sort of made us even more popular.
That same holiday too, all of my relatives came back home. Many of whom I hadn't seen in a while and some that I barely knew. We all bonded so well. When we, the children moved about, it was like a crowd. There were so many of us and with everyone and everything going on, it was like we were having a big party or something of sorts. Lots of food and eating and going out happened. It was massive and merry.
Thanks for stopping by.

That was a set up I will say, haha. It was really a good celebration I can tell, coupled with the reconnection with long seen family members.
