Architectural Structures/Sceneries to Visit and Stay in Ilocandia (Bangui and Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines)

Greetings Architecture+Design!

When it comes to tourism the provinces of Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte are definitely sought-after destinations for tourists, be it local or foreign.

Visiting the two provinces is my long-time dream because of their famous tourist destinations such as the Calle Crisologo, Paoay Church, Baluarte, Bangui Windmills, Patapat Bridge, Kapurpurawan Rock Formations, and the Burgos Wind Farm.

In the summer of 2019, that dream was finally fulfilled. We first set foot on Vigan then we proceeded to Batac, Paoay, Laoag, Burgos, Bangui, and Pagudpud. It was a travel that lasted for 4 nights and 5 days.

Of all the tourist destinations that the two provinces have to offer I specifically wanted to see the Paoay Church, Bangui Windmills, Burgos Wind Farm, Calle Crisologo, Kapurpurawan Rock Formations, and the Patapat Bridge.

Ilocos Norte Welcome Arc

Location: Ilocos Sur - Ilocos Norte boundary (Philippines)

When I travel I always make sure to take some photos of the welcome arc of the place that I am visiting. Below is the welcome arc of the province of Ilocos Norte. The welcome arc is well maintained and even becomes more beautiful because of the flowering plants hugging it. We are lucky because the plants' flowers are blossoming at the time of our visit.

Bangui Windmills

Location: Brgy. Bantoc, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines

And finally, I get to see the famous Bangui Windmills situated at the beach of Bangui, Ilocos Norte.

If you want to actually see these beautiful lines of windmills of Bangui you should go to Amerie Rae Resort located at Brgy. Bantoc, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, and from there you will see these beautiful lines of windmills by the sea.

Also, it is much better to go and take pictures before sunset. If you are early, you might get photos that are against the light just like one of the photos that I took at about 10:00 a.m. in the morning (if I remember it right).

Near the lines of windmills by the seashore, there's a mountain wherein there are also windmills that you can photograph for more remembrance.

Burgos Wind Farm

Location: Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines

When you visit the province of Ilocos Norte make sure to visit Burgos Wind Farm located at Burgos, Ilocos Norte. Authorities will guide you to the summit wherein you can see the wholeness of the farm. Also, at the summit, you can see the Bangui Windmills from afar.

Burgos Wind Farm is one of my sought-after tourist destinations in Ilocos Norte and I was so happy when I finally see them.

Make sure to take multiple photos of the wind farm from multiple angles, or else you'll regret it (^_^).

Nipa Huts at Bangui Beach

Location: Brgy. Bantoc, Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines

I am always a fan of nipa huts maybe because I was a farmer's son and I get to live with nipa huts in my younger years.

If you are going to visit Bangui Windmills, then you should stay at a resort named Amerie Rae wherein you will get to enjoy their beautiful and colorful nipa huts by the sea (a few steps actually). And from there (Amerie Rae Resort) you will see the majestic beauty of Bangui Windmills.

Just look at the photos of the nipa huts below, they are colorful and beautiful, they are structures definitely worth taking photos of. And you can definitely stay for a night in these nipa huts. If I remember it right, we paid 300 PHP (about $6 USD) for one night.

Here's another photo that I took from another angle. If you would walk forward you will begin to see the lines of Bangui windmills along this road.

Take a look at the photo below, can you see the lines of Bangui windmills? If you love photography, or if you are a blogger you will definitely enjoy taking photos on this location because every angle of the place has a beauty of its own.

Windmills at Kapurpurawan (Kapurpurawan Rock Formations)

Location: Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Philippines

Other architectural sceneries and structures that you can also visit are in Kapurpurawan. At this location, you can also take multiple photos of windmills from different angles. And just like at Amerie Rae Resort this place has a beauty of its own at every angle. Not only that, but you can also see and take photos of the famous Kapurpurawan Rock Formations.

I was actually the one that took this photo (below) of my elder sister and my wife and behind me is the famous Kapurpurawan Rock Formations.

Fantastic captures of the Bangui Windmills! These structures are currently popular and have already become iconic symbols in the northern Philippines. They are indeed a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike. I also admire the nipa huts on stilts along the coastline as they add to the overall travel experience there. Are people allowed to swim or bathe at the beach in front of the windmills @afterglow?

Fantastic captures of the Bangui Windmills!
Thank you @storiesoferne

Are people allowed to swim or bathe at the beach in front of the windmills
Actually, I was not able to ask the locals if people are allowed or not but I saw these two kids swimming during our visit.

Okay, I see, thank you! So I guess people are allowed to swim then. I was just concerned about the safety risks of the public, that's why I asked.

You're welcome @storiesoferne (^_^)

I just want to add, if I remember it right, the waves are strong that time (about 4 p.m.). I think the kids that I saw were locals, not tourists.
