Architecture of Kranjska Gora in Slovenia

in Architecture+Design11 months ago

Hello everyone and hello for the first time to all members of the Architecture+Design community. A month and a half ago I visited Slovenia, which I like very much for three reasons: architecture, stunning nature, and culture.

When I stepped on the streets of Kranjska Gora for the first time, I felt very good. The neat and clean environment is so pleasant and inspires you to walk as much as possible to peek into every corner. I was particularly impressed by the houses, built in the Alpine style.

IMG_20230428_143746.jpg

There were modern ones.

But also very old ones.

And what they have in common is that they fit perfectly into the environment, without disturbing the peace and harmony. There is no doubt that the architects found inspiration in traditional design, so the houses, although new and modern, are very reminiscent of the old ones, retaining the same recognizable style.

I found it interesting the way they stack the wood to make a fence that looks very decorative.

Kranjska gora is so beautiful and is located in untouched nature that it would be a real shame if there was something that would threaten the fantastic views around. That's why I like the architecture of this place, because it contributes to the harmony of man and nature and allows nature to dominate. This kind of unobtrusive architecture is perfect for the foothills of the Alps, where all views extend towards its snow-capped peaks.

There are several taverns on the square which are also in harmony with the surroundings.

I liked the facades and wooden elements on all the houses in combination with stone. You can see creativity at every step. Flower decorations on the windows...

Various decorations in the yards in front of the houses...

Wandering through Kranjska Gora, we came across Josip Vandot's house. He was a famous Slovenian poet who wrote for children and youth, and is especially known for the popular hero Kekec, who made many children's childhood more beautiful.

I especially liked the old house where, judging by the view from the window, many books are kept.

Walking through the streets of Kranjska Gora gave me a lot of inspiration for arranging my life just as the streets are arranged. When you see all those colors and carefully selected materials and designs, you can't help but admire the skill of those who are responsible for it.

I also like the effort of the locals to preserve the old houses and thus preserve the tradition and inspire architects today to design houses modeled after them. Kranjska gora is a treasure house of everything that is valuable and worth preserving.

In the end, I found the house of my dreams, where I would like to spend my time. 😊

Waking up in a place like this and seeing the snowy Alps through the window is enough to start your day with joy. That's why it was difficult for me to return home.😊

Thanks Jane 🤗 Yes, it is an incredible harmony between modern and traditional, and at the same time it fits perfectly into the natural environment...

What's that sign say on the log on the ground?

Can't really take pictures of windows like that where I'm from without being sighted or at least fired at.

Hehe this is a very peaceful place... 😊 And the sign shows that you can drink beer in that direction. 😊

I liked the pictures painted on the walls of some of the buildings. That woman holding a beer and looking out the window, or the cows coming out of the yard. Despite the damage to the buildings, these paintings add charm to them 😊
