Greetings to all architecture and design lovers in Hive, I hope you are doing well. This time I return to my country and my greatest passion in this niche, which are the catholic churches. This church is called San Martin de Tours and is located in the town of Colonia Tovar in Aragua, Venezuela, not far from my mother's house, but very high, as this place is located between high hills.
Chapel
Church
This visit was in high tourist season, so I don't have a picture of the front of the church that has left me totally satisfied, the best is the one I have left above in the first cover photo, but the church goes with a chapel next to it that is not seen in the image above, so I will leave here below the only picture I took of the entire complex and a photo from the internet so you can appreciate its beauty without people in the picture.
My Photo: 😭
Photo from Internet: 😍
The whole town has a colonial German architecture, in fact the German families are still the ones who maintain the economy and the architecture, even repairs were being made and new buildings were being built. As you can see in the pictures, the church is not left behind in terms of colonial design, you can see it in the windows, the roof and even in the colors chosen for the facade. Well, let's go inside the Chapel, although there will still be a lot of people in the pictures...
The Chapel:
The Altar
First Corridor
Second Corridor
The Exit
The Chapel has a “V” shape, there is a first aisle, wide, with benches on both sides and many religious images, at the end of it you can see the altar, which is the center of the building and the beginning of a second aisle, as you can see in the pictures above. The windows are made of glass, very colorful, white walls and wood color reigns in the ceiling and the lower part of the aisles, small and comfortable, but has capacity for many people.
The Church:
The church was huge inside, very spacious. Three main aisles and four rows of pews. Like the chapel it has white walls and highlights the wood color of the pews and ceilings. The altar has a very beautiful stone wall and unlike most churches, the cross is a window lit by the sun itself, really a beautiful, colorful and very vivid design. I think what I liked most about both places is that they had few lamps, practically the candles and the sun itself illuminated the interior of the temple. As you can see in these last pictures below, outside there were other buildings very similar to the church and surrounding the Plaza Bolivar of the town... Definitely a place of charm, although I visited it at the wrong time regarding the amount of tourists...

It is really a very rare architecture, different but beautiful on the outside and the inside is an amazing mix of rustic with those stained glass windows. Beautiful!
No doubt here in our country Venezuela we are privileged to have that diversity in culture, history and as in this case architecture, all part of our rich heritage. Greetings friend and excellent post !

It's truly interesting to see German-inspired architecture in Venezuela. And it's surely one of your country's best cultural legacies. I'm particularly impressed by the amazing interior design of the Church of San Martin de Tours (although the nearby chapel is beautiful too), especially the main altar due to its organic theme. The combination of wood, stone, flowers, other natural materials, plus the colorful displays of stained glass is incredibly stunning! Thank you for showcasing this marvelous heritage @jesuslnrs! ☺️
Thanks for Elevating Architecture and Design with Hive!
Greetings @jesuslnrs. The elevated Venezuelan town of Colonia Tovar must be a conducive environment for habitation. I'd imagine the cool European-like climate that made it possible for the Germans to settle down there. The colonial architecture of the Church and Chapel of San Martin de Tours is impeccable, reflecting their technological advantage. ☺️

Hello friend, the Church of San Martin de Tours, has a nice design, also an excellent location with the mountain in the background, the interior decoration is beautiful, I like the lamps, the wooden ceiling and the colorful stained glass windows, it is admirable how these German families have managed to preserve over time their cultural expressions.
Greetings!
Colonia Tovar is my eternal love, I love this place and seeing your pictures brings a smile to my face. This chapel is undoubtedly one of my favorites, especially because as soon as you enter you feel cozy, I guess the whole design with the woods causes that feeling and it is true, although it may not seem so, this church is very large and beautiful and the detail of the natural light is a big plus.
¡Enhorabuena!
