I send a very special greeting to all the Architecture and Design lovers that make life in Hive! Today I want to share a very special post, and is that I went for the first time to a place that has always caught my attention when I transit the Avenida Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. It is the imposing Nuestra Señora de la Chiquinquirá Church, where I attended mass on Holy Monday and I left prepared to capture many photographs and record this video that I share with you today of my first impressions, since I knew that I would be amazed by its architecture.
I do not know if it is always the same, but the day I attended I did not enter through the main facade, in fact I entered through the parking lot and it is at the back of the church, so I walked a lot to get to the front and take these pictures with which I started the post, but this place is very impressive in its four parts, so below I share with you a little of what can be seen on the right side, where there is also a side entrance. The temple is very tall and of earth colors, but as I went there at sunset it had a beautiful orange color that made it special. It has a gigantic tower on the left that I could not fail to appreciate for its beauty and a sculpture before the main entrance.
As you enter you are amazed by the details, all in rock color, highlighting the grays. You appreciate how tall it is, in fact there are aisles upstairs and colored windows. Paintings along the wall above the showcases. Its lamps are not impressive, but they fulfill their function of illuminating well so much space, although the rest is done by sunlight through the windows, and from the moment I entered I realized that there was no large dome as in most Catholic temples. So the first impression was of great architectural beauty, although not very luxurious compared to other temples in the city.
Besides the impressive paintings of the Stations of the Cross at the top, I noticed that there were very few religious images, only a Jesus on the Cross, Virgen Dolorosa and the Virgin of Coromoto and the Nazarene, the rest is all appreciated in the windows and paintings, but instead I was carried away by the beauty of so many arches, supported by dozens of pillars throughout the church. Arches in the aisles, the windows, the ceilings, a really striking and organized design, and although it is sufficiently illuminated to be inside and appreciate the photographs it is still a place with a very dark tone.
The altar is a very spacious place and it is noticeable that it has an aisle behind it which I could not access. The Christ hangs from one of the central curve and the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar rests in that same place at the back, unlike most churches where it has a special space to the right, however here to the right of the altar is the parish office and the back entrance that is actually used as the main entrance for people, since the facade faces a part of the parking lot that is fenced. It may not be luxurious, but it is very beautiful, and the real defect of this temple in my opinion is the great heat inside. Being so old it has no air conditioners, but strangely there are no fans either, possibly to avoid damaging the original design of the architect.
At the end of the mass and seeing that there was no more security I went to the left side of the parking lot to take other side pictures and I discovered that the place is a whole complex with a school next to it, in fact I stopped being in the parking lot and I was in a sports field for soccer and basketball. I promised that day that I would visit more temples during Holy Week and so I did, and this one was almost my favorite, but no, there was another one that captivated me, but I promise you that this one turned out to be the most imposing and impressive because of its great size. I hope you liked it, thank you very much for your support 🙏
Greetings @kingworldline, thank you very much for commenting. It is a topic that I liked to share because always with any concern, discomfort or condition of our health in every way, we turn to the doctor, internet, friends or others, but we do not stop to do a self-assessment and knowledge that we are also able to listen ourselves to our body, and so, for example when something hurts we let it go until the body screams and we let ourselves be won by the condition but we have not been able to act and recognize that we can with simple steps like these prevent or alleviate any situation.
Brother, thank you very much for stopping by and commenting, I hope you have also seen the video at the beginning of the post, and I feel that in that video I was able to better capture the majesty of the temple, possibly I will continue recording other videos in the future. I admire you that you appreciate details like architecture or nature, you are a wise man. A big hug brother!.
This neo-Romanesque church is wonderful. From what I read it was built recently between 1957 and 1959 and if so it was an excellent architectural job. The stained glass windows and decorations that reflect Catholic devotion are beautiful. Thank you for telling us and showing us this architectural beauty
I really appreciate you looking for more information about the place my brother, and yes, you are so right about it. I always visit catholic temples and share them in this community, and you are from Italy from what I can read here, I can imagine the architectural beauty you have appreciated there. Thank you very much for your visit and I send you a sincere hug 🙏
The truth is impressive, both the exterior and interior facade, a huge church, I love it, especially the stained glass windows! Thank you Jesus!
I loved it because of its large size, standing in front of the facade feels great. Besides those colorful glasses I love the drawings in the upper area, and I imagine the man who climbed up there to make them hahaha...
I was in a small place yesterday where the ceilings were amazing... that reminded me!
I loved the stone color of the facades and the reticulated slab above the altar. The whole temple with its details make it a true work of art.
Brother, I hope you have seen the video too, there you can appreciate in more detail its majesty, and it is an idea that I may share again in the community. Thank you very much for your support...
Thank you so much my friend 🙏
