A charming place, my favorite avenue [ENG/ES]

English version 🇬🇧

There are two things that entertain me a lot since I've been writing for this community, one is going out to take pictures (of anything). Sometimes I go for a walk with my little girl and she complains because she says I only take pictures. The other thing is to do research every time I'm going to make a publication. I've learned a lot on the Internet, which is also a great tool, there's information about everything! I always learn very interesting things. That's the preliminary process I enjoy the most every time I'm going to start writing, and in this publication what I liked the most were the photos I took of the place. 📸

This writing is about a very popular avenue in my city. Here I show its spaces, the urban design of its gardens, the houses around it, and everything my eyes caught. Its name is Paseo Street and it is located in El Vedado, a neighborhood where I love to walk. What I like most about strolling around this street is that I can always be in the shade of a tree, its environment contains a great diversity of trees and there is always a pleasant breeze, especially in the hottest hours.🌳🌿🌞

Si Separador 1.jpg

Paseo Avenue has a wide central separator that delimits its two lanes, which is also a recreational area, with benches to sit and rest under the pleasant shade of the place, where mothers take their children to play and there is always a child having fun, where teenagers go to talk and share, and there is always the occasional couple in love. Its abundant trees are healthy, lush and full of greenery, and grow in the same soil of their gardens, I imagine that's why they are so strong and vigorous. It is a very clean and well-kept place. The whole space is designed for walking and relaxing with its beautiful landscape, I never get tired of walking around here!

I took the opportunity to take my daughter for a walk with me and have some quality time with her. Seeing my daughter playing and running around happy and entertained put me in a good mood. The happiness of children is contagious jaja. We walked around this central park for a while, I dedicated myself to observe all the details that surrounded me, so I discovered in one of its gardens something that I had not noticed before, and that is that there is a bust dedicated to Carlos de la Torre y Huerta, an eminent Cuban scientist and researcher. At times it was a little difficult to walk and hold my little girl's hand while I was photographing the surroundings jeje.

Something very nice about the streets of Vedado are its houses, some of them mansions and palaces. The Havana bourgeoisie of the last century lived here for a long time, when Cuba had a different political and social system. Currently some of these beautiful mansions are deteriorated and have fallen into neglect, but most of them preserve their beautiful designs and the original materials with which they were built. Fortunately, some have been remodeled and restored for other uses, such as the current House of Friendship, where we can enjoy the splendor of another era. Known as The Mansión of Catalina Lasa y Pedro Baró for being the name of its first inhabitants, a marriage with a story of love, passion and a sad outcome (a story that perhaps I should tell at another time and make a visit to the place) ... The house is also a museum for its architectural value, its design and the materials used in its construction. 🏤

Si Casa Amistad.jpg

All these large houses have in common high columns, very spacious interiors and exteriors, beautiful facades, large wooden doors and windows, and are enclosed with iron railings of beautiful craftsmanship. All a beauty of the Cuban architecture of other times, and that we find in every corner of the capital's Vedado.

And so I walked around in the shadow of this beautiful avenue, and almost at the end of my tour I came across this grandiose monument that I approached to observe more closely each of its details and which impressed me by its size, since I had seen it before, but from afar. It is about the first mayor that Havana had, his name was Alejandro Rodriguez Velazco, a veteran of our wars of independence. The statue is surrounded by beautiful trees that do not block the sun so it can always be appreciated in detail. The monument is made of marble, and before our eyes the first thing that appears when we are in front of it is a warrior sculpted in bronze, I imagine that represents the brave soldier who was this hero of the struggles for the independence of Cuba. Around the statue there are reliefs of allegorical images of the wars for our freedom, like swords, laurels and horses. And on a higher level above our sight for what we have to raise our eyes to the sky as a tribute, is the imposing figure on horseback of the heroic Cuban General dressed in his best clothes.

After having admired this beautiful monument made in honor of one of the many men who fought for the freedom of my country, I decided to finish my walk and return home with my girl. The sun was almost at its center, the heat was quite strong, and we were tired from all the walking.

I hope to be able to return here soon to enjoy the beauty of the place once again.❤️

I say goodbye with a big hello. See you next time.

Who doesn't love an incredible avenue that has offered you and your family countless cherished moments, right @jordy0827? And since Cuba's weather is typically sunny during most periods of the year, the smart addition of large trees that provide ample shade for people is perfect! Like you, I'd also enjoy lingering under the shade of these trees if I'm not strolling around, perhaps having a nice afternoon picnic in the gardens too, haha. 😁

If I may ask, what was one of the most unforgettable experiences in your beloved Paseo Street? 😊

Of course you can ask. My experiences can be summed up in the walks I take around the place. Lately accompanied by my little girl, but let's ask @lileisabel who wrote me that it bring back nice memories for her. Maybe she can tell us something interesting...

Wonderful! I can surely relate to your cherished experiences in that avenue. Despite being as mundane as walks, true happiness is found in simple matters. 👍

Certainly, I'm also curious about the beautiful memories of this place from @lileisabel. Perhaps she can wrap up our interesting conversation...😁

😊😃😁

My memories in this place, although they are still very nice, I can summarize them as those of @jordy0827 in walks that I have usually taken accompanied by my son and that I continue to do until these days.

Indeed @lileisabel. Although walks may be simple activities, they deliver wonderful memories due to their comprehensive sensual coverage of the surrounding environments. Cheers! 😊

Hi @jordyo827, like you I also love to take pictures, I am not a professional but I enjoy observing the buildings in my city, I don't even know how many pictures I have in the camera hahaha, you did a great tour with your little model, visiting the different houses, each one has a great architectural design and many details to observe.

Blessings!

Isn't it true that taking pictures becomes addictive? jaja. I'm glad you liked them.
Cheers

¡Saludos!

It looks like an ideal place to exercise and free the mind. The columns of the buildings are very characteristic of the site, I loved the ones in the white building, it is simply beautiful. Thanks for sharing this great work, best regards!

Thank you for your comment. It is also very good place for physical activity. There are several people who run around the place for exercise.
Cheers 😊

Basically it looks like a perfect place to relax and be filled with tranquility. The horse statue looks epic to me, although the angle makes it look a hell of a lot more imposing haha.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you liked it. 😊

¡Enhorabuena!
