The Saxon Garden. A majestic, royal park with historic architecture - a water reservoir and a fountain / Ogród Saski w Warszawie

On Tuesday I met my friend in Saski Park. This is the oldest city park in Warsaw, it is located in the center, so it is easy to reach. It was hot that day and we thought it would be fun to walk there, and then we would sit on one of the many benches in the park, in the shade, under a tree, and talk. I haven't been to this park for a long time, but when I got there on my bike, I felt what I always felt when I was there - delight.

We wtorek spotkałam się z koleżanką w parku Saskim. To najstarszy park miejski w Warszawie, znajduje się w centrum, więc łatwo do niego dotrzeć. Tego dnia było upalnie i pomyślałyśmy, że fajnie się będzie tam spacerowało, a później usiądziemy sobie na jednej z licznych ławek w parku, w cieniu, pod drzewem i sobie pogadamy. Już dawno nie byłam w tym parku, ale gdy tam dojechałam na rowerze poczułam to co zawsze - zachwyt.

The amazing nature there fascinates me. Large trees, beautiful flowers- incl. powdery and burgundy dahlias, a pond in which a historic water reservoir is reflected. As is the architecture. The water reservoir I mentioned, as well as baroque sculptures of people, or a phenomenal fountain.

Zachwyca mnie tam zarówno niesamowita przyroda. Dorodne drzewa, piękne kwiaty - m.in. pudrowe i bordowe dalie, staw, w którym odbija się zabytkowy wodozbiór. Jak i architektura. Wspomniany przeze mnie wodozbiór, jak i barokowe rzeźby ludzi, czy zjawiskowa fontanna.

The water reservoir is located on a small hill and thanks to that it can be seen even from a distance. I wanted to get a closer look at it and climbed this hill. The prize - in addition to seeing the white, historic building up close, with a round shape, with columns finished in the Corinthian style, was the opportunity to see a beautiful view of the large pond located right next to it.

Wodozbiór znajduje się na małym wzgórzu i dzięki temu widać go nawet z daleka. Chciałam mu się przyjrzeć z bliska i wdrapałam się na to wzgórze. Nagrodą - oprócz zobaczenia z bliska białego, zabytkowego budynku, o okrągłym kształcie, z kolumnami zakończonymi w stylu korynckim, była możliwość zobaczenia pięknego widoku na znajdujący się tuż obok duży staw.

There were a lot of people in the park. Both tourists and residents of Warsaw. Fortunately, the park is so large and there are so many benches that when we got bored of walking around, my friend and I quickly found a bench for us.

W parku było dużo ludzi. Zarówno turystów, jak i mieszkańców Warszawy. Na szczęście park jest tak duży i znajduje się tu tak dużo ławek, że gdy znudziło nam się spacerowanie, szybko znalazłyśmy z koleżanką ławkę dla nas.

However, before we sat down on the bench for a longer time, we managed to see another architectural gem of the park - the fountain. Water comes out of the mouths of figurines - dolphins and from the mouths of bas-reliefs depicting a human head. It looks cool. On a hot day, I imagined the desire to jump into this fountain, and preferably to lie on the top and be splashed by a scattered stream of water. Of course, in reality I would never go into such a fountain, too many germs 😉

Jednak zanim usiadłyśmy na dłużej na ławce, udało nam się zobaczyć kolejną perełkę architektoniczną parku - fontannę. Woda wydobywa się tu z ust figurek - delfinów oraz z ust płaskorzeźb przedstawiających głowę człowieka. Ciekawie to wygląda. W upalny dzień pojawiała mi się chęć wskoczenia do tej fontanny, a najlepiej położenia się na samej górze i bycia oblewaną przez rozproszony strumień wody. Oczywiście w rzeczywistości nigdy bym nie weszła do takiej fontanny, za dużo zarazków 😉

You can see there, among others, sculptures Intellect, Astronomy or Creativity. Each sculpture is engraved with an inscription.

Można tam zobaczyć m.in. rzeźby Intelekt, Astonomię, czy Twórczość. Na każdej rzeźbie jest wygrawerowany napis.

I liked the sculpture from the photo below, with the word creativity written on it. A woman is holding a child who looks like a baby girl and has strange bulges on its chest. I wonder what they mean. They reminded me a bit of the back of some animal, how about you?

Mi spodobała się rzeźba ze zdjęcia poniżej, z napisem twórczość. Kobieta trzyma dziecko, które wygląda jak córeczka i ma na klatce piersiowej dziwne uwypuklenia. Ciekawe co oznaczają. Przypominały mi trochę grzbiet jakiegoś zwierzęcia. A wam?

You can walk around the park for a long time, it's huge. It is a great, green form of escape from urban concrete buildings and streets. And during this particular day, the trees in the park cooled the air perfectly, and the lush leaves growing on them gave the desired shade. See how green it is here. Po parku można długo spacerować, jest ogromny. Stanowi fajną, zieloną odskocznię od miejskiej betonozy. A tego konkretnego dnia drzewa w parku świetnie chłodziły powietrze, a bujnie porastające je liście dawały upragniony cień. Zobaczcie jak tu zielono. Można się odprężyć, zrelaksować od samego patrzenia na tą zieleń.

You can also quench your thirst by buying cold lemonade or ice cream from park vendors.

Można tu też ugasić pragnienie kupując zimną lemoniadę albo loda u parkowych sprzedawców.

At the beginning of my post I mentioned wonderful flowers. They grow in many places in the park, but what caught my attention was the "floral carpet" which is located in the middle of the park's main avenues. The gardeners grow dahlias of various colors there, which are beautifully displayed.

Na początku mojego posta wspomniałam o cudownych kwiatach. Rosną one w wielu miejscach w parku, lecz moją uwagę przyciągnął główne kwiatowy dywan", który znajduje się po środku głównych alejek parku. Ogrodnicy uprawiają tam różnokolorowe dalie, które pięknie się prezentują.
