The White Lighthouse

in Architecture+Design3 years ago
There is always a feeling of excitement every time I see a lighthouse. I haven't experienced climbing or to be on top of any of it because I have a fear of heights, but it doesn't stop me to be amazed by them.

As I mentioned in my last post, we visited this waterfront mall in the city of Cebu, IL Corso, and had lunch there with the family. It is one of my favorite places to dine because of its location. And, I want to share with you one of the structures that I like in IL Corso, the lighthouse. Every time I go there, the moment I stepped out in the parking lot, it is the first thing that my eyes would notice, not because of its height, but for the thought that I am amused every time I see it. Because when I see a lighthouse, I always remember what my late grandfather told me. It's kind of personal but want to leave it that way. So that day, I have unexpectedly captured it at last after several times of revisiting the place.

The lighthouse was located just a few meters from where we had our lunch. So upon entering the restaurant, and logged in with our names in the customer's list, I couldn't stop staring at the tall structure behind us. So I took out my phone and did one shot. Then, we went inside. After lunch, while resting after a feast that we shared at our table, we decided to capture some beautiful photos of the place, and that includes the lighthouse.

This lighthouse is painted white. The structure was situated just a few meters from the boundary of the mall from the sea. The lower part of it has these clear glass walls from almost all sides with a huge glass door. Upon looking at the upper ground, it has an access to the second level of the mall. Then, as I looked higher, near the top, there were windows, if I spotted it correctly. And on the highest layer, I observed glass walls. Then, upon observing closely on the wall, I noticed that it has a vertical parallel design. And, it has eight sides in total. We looked at it on top, it was in an octagon shape, as captured by the drone. That was amazing.

The weather was really beautiful that day. We couldn't see any traces of unwanted dark clouds. I kept on looking up high from where I stood just across the lighthouse, and I loved how the white structure just went on with the perfect color of the blue sky. I was literally smiling while framing the angle with my mobile phone. Maybe it was the reason that I did not care how long I stood there, watching the view while the sun was really striking hot with no shades at all. A good thing that the sea breeze swept my sweat away. And in one angle, looking straight at the ocean, a glimpse of the ongoing CCLX bridge can be seen.

I was imagining what would be the view at the top. I wanted to enter it at that time, but we were about to leave already. So maybe next time.

Ang ganda nya pag naka-close up. I love lighthouses too, kaya isa sa mga pangarap ko ay mapunta sa Batanes, madami din lighthouses doon.

Thank you, @afterglow. The lighthouse in Batanes is also one of my dream structure to capture.

You're welcome.

Hello Noreen, at first glance I thought the lighthouse was taken in another country until I started reading and saw Il Corso. It's a beautiful development. I love its proximity to the sea and the gorgeous seaside views while dining inside the restaurants or al fresco. Those are beautiful shots by the way!

Thank you, @discoveringarni.😊The location is really beautiful, and it's not crowded, too. And that lighthouse was really something that you can't avoid taking photos of it.

The pictures are beautiful truly and I can't believe these are from a mobile phone?
Anyways, loved the content would look foreword to see more form you.

It is really nice to have these smartphones nowadays because you can now capture beautiful photos with it. Thank you for appreciating, @praditya.🙂 I just love the place.

Indeed Noreen, the lighthouse at IL Corso is one of the best distinctive architectural features along the SRP coastline in Cebu City. Because of your fascination with lighthouses, you might be inspired by this lighthouse (photo below) that I explored in Batanes some time ago. If you're interested, you can learn more about it in Post 1 and Post 2 of my personal adventures there. I think @afterglow already saw those publications, and they have inspired him too.

What specific design features of the IL Corso lighthouse have captivated you the most @noreen?

Yes, I did see the publications, @noreen I recommend that you go check it out.

Thanks @afterglow for the recommendation, cheers!

You're welcome @storiesoferne (^_^)

At first glanced, I was caught by its parallel designs and the color itself, because it was so neat. And when I saw the aerial view, I was amazed by its octagon shape.

And, the lighthouses that you featured in your 2 posts were amazing! Atually, Batanes is on my bucket list.😊

Certainly, those design features you've mentioned about the IL Corso lighthouse are amazing. Thanks a lot for taking the time in reading my previous posts on Batanes. I'm pretty sure you would get the chance to visit those exotic islands someday.

It's also a delight to see you again @noreen. I was a bit worried about you, and I thought you won't be returning to our A+D community anymore. Welcome back Noreen, and I look forward to more of your awesome content about architecture and design here. Cheers!
