The Pritzker Award Winner-Diébédo Francis Kéré

There's some prestigious awards in almost all the industry. when it comes to Architecture among plenty of prestigious awards like Aga Khan, NSW, RIBA etc comes the most renowned one called Pritzker price.
Year 2022's Pritzker Award Winner is Diébédo Francis Kéré

The 56 years old Architect from the village of Gando made a significance difference in the world because of his work. He wasn't awarded on a particular project but for his lifetime achievements of projects and their success.

The projects he did was more of passion driven, they had a social reformative sense in them and the material used were all innovative and climate friendly. It's always the perspective that matters.

image.png

A little boy from a small village Gando, became the first one in his entire community to get education and he spiralled out and won scholarship and studied architecture. He never forgot his roots as his first project became the primary school of GANDO. He designed it and raised funds for it. The entire construction was done by the people of the village and the school was such a great success due to it's climate friendly design that slowly it started expanding.
Kere kept his mind to his cultural roots and wherever he travelled across the world for the projects he always added the value of his culture.

Many of his structures have a narrative and cultural influence like the 'Sarbale Ke' in Cochela, resembles the mother tree in Kere's native land where it is considered auspicious and preached for its medicinal values.
Kere has been awarded with 12 awards already and the prestigious Pritzker Award adds into 13th of the list.- Gando School and it's multiple extentions, National Park of Mali, Centre de Santé et de Promotion Sociale, Burkina Faso, Léo Surgical Clinic & Health Center,Camper pop up shop,
Philadelphia Museum of Art Colorscape, Burkina Faso National Assembly, Burkina Faso and the list goes on.

It's the overall character of this talented Architect and the cultural narrative in his work with zeal to improve mankind and nature has what awarded him the award.

A warning by nature- Discovered Ghost Towns!

Draught has emptied the reservoir in Spain and the 30 years old submerged town has now surfaced and is providing important lessons to the world without uttering a word.
In a village of Spain namely Aceredo which was submerged back in 1992 to create a reservoir and the climate change has bought a turmoil and has dried up the water reservoir leaving only 30% intact.

This has bought many tourist attraction towards the place but also tears in remembrance for the locals. This somehow depicts the future if the climate change is not considered as an emergency and we should not stop depleting and misusing it then this will be our future as well. The abandoned drowned and dry lands and old structures which stands like a ruin today in Spain are teh warnings by nature.

Many aged people claimed that this used to be so flourishing town which now has dried up and died practically!
Hope we all consider this one a siren from nature and start living in favour of nature.

The war Catastrophe

Humans fight, kills and repeat! The war between Russia and Ukraine has not just bought the pain for humans but many important and general built up structures got destroyed.

image.png
Src
The devastating sightings which the world could witness has bought down many structures nations due to war.
The war between humans brings in land and property to be collateral damage and this has been the reality since the beginning of WW1 and it still persists. The damages to the old structures which carried history of the citizens and many immemorial memories is been turned into dust.
The collateral damage has been so high that it brings in such a pain.
Ukraine's architectural treasures have truly hit their rock bottom and are nowhere to be found but in ashes. Russia has suffered so much of collateral damage too. since war is never a great option for either party. From public places like museums, cultural centres to private places like personal homes etc are destroyed badly.

I wonder what will happen after war? will everything be restored(which seems challenging) or will new structures be built from the roots?
