Positive Impact Of Using Glass Material In Cafe Building

Welcome to the architecture trip with me SOBAT KELANA. Finding a cafe with an interesting design made me want to share it with you here.

A cafe offering traditional Indonesian food, in Batam City. Called Nasi Kapau, Cafe Pak Nin. Nasi Kapau comes from the Minang region which is popular throughout Indonesia.

That's why even though I'm not in the Minang, Padang, West Sumatra area, I can also find Nasi Kapau dish in Batam City.

The interesting thing about this cafe is the use of glass material. Even though it carries the characteristics of traditional cuisine, this stops the business owner from innovating.

Modern life is still a developing modern era. By not forgetting history, we can still innovate to maintain traditions and culture. Especially for traditional food, innovations can be made in terms of buildings to sell the food.

Developing a modern building to sell traditional food is indeed a brilliant idea. Young people who live in the modern era will be interested in tasting traditional food in a place that feels modern, contemporary but still offers "old-fashioned food". Old, but gold.

Here I will focus on talking about the use of glass material on the walls of the cafe building.

More Modern and Simple

Modernity is also often interpreted as simple. The use of glass material can support a design that is simple but has a lot of meaning.

In line with the modern era of development, we see a lot of use of glass materials for the construction of skyscrapers. The glass material effect gives a majestic impression with a modern character.

In this cafe, the building also looks fresh, modern, and also kept simple. With several combinations of green plants, it creates a more natural side to add an impression other than "glass" as an anti-monotony.

To maintain a deeper modern impression, building colors are used to support the minimalist concept. The colors white and black are used.

Multifunctional Material

The use of glass can be maximized with the aim of building multifunctionality. In this cafe, glass is not only used for building walls. Glass material is also used for doors and windows.

When I came, they didn't open the windows as doors. On another occasion on social media, they showed the glass being used as a door using the folding door method. You can see the iron partitions between the glass which are used to fold the glass sections as doors.

The use of multifunctional glass makes buildings save more coastline if they promote design efficiency. Plus another function, namely the space in the cafe will seem more spacious.

More Relaxed More Comfortable

Glasses that are opened as doors will create the impression of a cafe space that is more spacious and comfortable. The use of glass material allows visitors to see into the outside area of the cafe.

This unlimited view makes visitors feel more comfortable and feel not constrained by space. By considering the view to the outside area, the outside area of the cafe is designed to be "greener" to improve the impression of the view.

From inside the cafe we will be presented with a minimalist, simple impression, then from outside the cafe we will be presented with a more relaxed green view.

Pandan trees and stronger wood materials are used to create a natural and calm atmosphere.

The use of glass material in the cafe looks suitable with several combinations used. You just need to pay attention if you want to use glass material as a multifunctional wall. Make sure there is more green space in the outdoor area to reduce the heat effect of the glass.

Apart from that, green areas outside can save the simple impression of the glass material and make it more attractive with reflections of the nature of the material.

The use of glass in modern constructions is a trend, which in addition to creating beautiful spaces allows the use of natural light; the design is simple but charming and the space looks cozy, the environment with lots of vegetation adds freshness.
