entry smash 357: sunset on the terrace

nothing beats the beach for watching the sunset, but our terrace is a good second choice. we don't get to see the sun kiss the ocean but we get a better chance to play around with the shadows

our railing is a mix of plastered brick wall and balusters

and this make nice shadows across the terrace and onto the stairwell walls

the change of the spacing of the balusters is cool but there's not that much to play around with

but my shadow is always up for some messing around

but what i like most about this setup is how obvious the change of the shadow's color becomes when it falls on the perpendicular walls. the study of how light and shadows interact with objects to create gradations of light and shade is called sciography.
