You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life

Two weeks ago, I started to read this amazing book that I'd found online. I don’t know why I am always looking for self-improvement books, although I know that I’ve read plenty already. Reading this kind of book makes you realize why you started reading it. It is because there is some part of your life that is broken and needs to be fixed. Well, we all do have something in common; find a book to which we can relate our lives the most.

The cover of the book.

The book I found was titled, You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero. The self-help book "You Are a Badass" by Jen Sincero aims to empower readers to get over their egos and enjoy living their own best lives. There seem to be 27 chapters in the book, each focusing on a different aspect of personal development, such as self-love, visualization, and goal setting.

You’re going to have to let go of old, limiting beliefs and cling to your decision to create the life you desire like your life depends on it. Sometimes, fear is the reason you’re not improving at all. You don’t take risks for what’s to come. If you want to live a life you’ve never lived, you have to do things you’ve never done.

We need to be surrounded by people who radiate self-love and abundance.

The first thing I will ask you to do is believe that we live in a world of limitless possibilities. The book emphasizes that if you really want to change, then believe that you are capable of making that change. Believe that there are endless possibilities waiting for you to grab them. Just don’t hold yourself back, because if you do, then nothing good awaits you.

I realized that our lack of confrontation management skills reduced the opportunities that we were supposed to take. It’s because we cannot afford to offend and overthink what the other person will think about us that we ended up being silent.

Most people are living in an illusion based on someone else’s beliefs.

The honest, practical example scenarios that she mentioned were somewhat similar to my life. As if the statement I’ve heard from the elders were that whatever your problems are, some people have them too. So, don’t be sulky, and get out of your zone.

Basically, the book wants you to know that you have to assess yourself to see what’s hindering your breakthroughs. Whether it’s within or with the environment you are in It doesn’t cost you anything to find a moment of silence to meditate and evaluate yourself. It could be the gate that allows you to enter a new stage of your life.

One important lesson I learned from this book is that no matter how hard you try to change if you are not connected to the infinite source, you will fail. Then, you will grow tired of changing since nothing is supporting you but yourself. Also, let the infinite source flow continuously and don’t alter the natural change too much. It means that spirituality is pretty much connected to our physical form.

As I continue to read the book chapter by chapter, I realize that mindset plays a crucial role in developing a good product, which are you. You know, we’re always longing for the better version of ourselves, but what's the standard for that so-called "better version"? Is it when you found your way to cut off one of your addictions? Is it when people start to like you? Is it when the opportunity you've never had knocks on your door? Whichever it is, only you can answer because no one knows you better than yourself.

Sometimes you need to shut down everything so that you can regain focus on the things in front of you. I loved what the author said: that when we get so wrapped up in our heads, we miss out on what’s available to us right now at the moment. The opportunities are there, the person you’re looking for is there, and although you’re physically present, your mind is traveling far from the present world.

From the title itself: Start living an awesome life. But how? Kurt Cubain has a piece of great advice for each of us and says, wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are. Meaning, don’t lose sight of who you truly are because that hinders you from getting back on the right track that is only made for you. Certainly, a self-help book is just a bridge to the other side of yourself so that there will be a connection between the two.

If you’re looking for something real, raw, and relatable as examples for a book, Then, I believe this book is for you as well. Although there are still 4 chapters left for me to read, that’s not enough to cover a book review. I totally enjoyed reading this book, You’re a Badass. I can’t help myself but continue reading each chapter. Always remember that your journey toward greatness is rough, but it will be smooth and successful once you receive help from others and the Source.

I read a few pages of this book and I find that relatable despite the cheesy title :D

To be honest, I was caught from its title itself. It's like, okay, I'm a badass. I should read this one. Hahaha. And I didn't regret reading this.

The book is a good read. I've listened to the audiobook version a couple of times. We are a badass indeed and there's no other way to discover our greatness than to let go of those limiting beliefs which we have.
