📚 Book Review: White Fang [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos lectores! Espero que estén teniendo un mes cargado de buenas lecturas. Por mi parte, hoy les traigo la reseña de un libro que tenía pendiente hace bastante y es un gran clásico, les estoy hablando de Colmillo Blanco del autor Jack London.

Hello fellow readers! I hope you are having a month full of good readings. For my part, today I bring you the review of a book that I had pending for quite some time and is a great classic, I'm talking about White Fang by author Jack London.

Trama - Plot

Este libro nos narra la historia de un mestizo de lobo nacido en lo salvaje, hijo de un lobo pura cepa y una loba mestiza, bautizado por unos indios como Colmillo Blanco. Como único sobreviviente de esa camada de cachorros, Colmillo Blanco se embarca en una aventura sin igual donde será puesto a prueba más de una vez y deberá soportar crueldades y malos tratos que le harán forjar un carácter arisco y violento.
¿Será capaz de encontrar su lugar en el mundo?

This book tells the story of a wolf mongrel born in the wild, son of a purebred wolf and a mongrel she-wolf, baptized by some Indians as Colmillo Blanco (White Fang). As the only survivor of this litter of puppies, White Fang embarks on an unparalleled adventure where he will be tested more than once and will have to endure cruelty and mistreatment that will make him forge a surly and violent character.
Will he be able to find his place in the world?

Reseña - Review

Cuando era pequeña me gustaba mucho la película del mismo nombre, ahora hace mucho que no la veo, pero fui recordando algunas cosas al leer este libro. Me trajo mucha nostalgia y me sorprendió saber que siendo tan pequeña disfrutará de esta película porque, si bien es una linda historia de compañerismo y lealtad sin igual, también pasan sucesos muy crueles y violentos propios de la vida salvaje y otro tanto de los malos tratos que le tocó vivir a este animal hasta caer en las manos adecuadas.

When I was little I really liked the movie of the same name, now it's been a long time since I saw it, but I was remembering some things when I read this book. It brought me a lot of nostalgia and I was surprised to know that being so small I will enjoy this movie because, although it is a nice story of companionship and unparalleled loyalty, there are also very cruel and violent events typical of wildlife and the mistreatment that this animal had to live until it fell into the right hands.

Siento que es un libro muy completo porque nos narra la historia desde antes de que naciera Colmillo Blanco, es decir, cómo era la vida en lo salvaje y cómo se conocieron sus padres, todo el proceso de nacimiento y crecimiento de este cachorro hasta su primera caza y su posterior captura junto con su madre por parte de los indios que no lograron domesticarlo del todo, pero si lo hicieron dependiente de los lazos humanos, aunque en más de una ocasión estuvo la oportunidad de abandonarlo todo y volver a lo salvaje.

I feel it is a very complete book because it tells the story from before White Fang was born, that is, how life was in the wild and how his parents met, the whole process of birth and growth of this cub until his first hunt and his subsequent capture along with his mother by the Indians who did not manage to tame him completely, but made him dependent on human ties, although on more than one occasion he had the opportunity to abandon everything and return to the wild.

Sin embargo, su lugar en el mundo terminó siendo en las manos de su maestro del amor, aquella persona que le enseñó algo más que la violencia y los golpes, le enseñó lo que es el verdadero amor, le tuvo la paciencia que necesitaba que le tuvieran y le dio un hermoso hogar.

However, his place in the world ended up being in the hands of his master of love, the person who taught him more than violence and beatings, taught him what true love is, gave him the patience he needed and gave him a beautiful home.

Fue un libro agridulce por momentos porque tuvo varias escenas que me impresionaron mucho por el nivel de violencia hacia los animales, pero también tuvo un final feliz que hizo que todo el viaje de Colmillo Blanco valiera la pena.

It was a bittersweet book at times because it had several scenes that really shocked me because of the level of violence towards the animals, but it also had a happy ending that made White Fang's whole journey worthwhile.

Así que les recomiendo este libro si les gustan las historias con animales y no son demasiado sensibles. También trata otros temas muy interesantes como la vida indígena, las adicciones y es un tanto filosófico. Deja algunos buenos mensajes, es para analizar en próximas lecturas. En definitiva, lo recomiendo.

So I recommend this book if you like stories with animals and are not too sensitive. It also deals with other very interesting topics such as indigenous life, addictions and is somewhat philosophical. It leaves some good messages, it is to analyze in next readings. All in all, I recommend it.
