Amazing Cover Art for Dragons in the Weaving

I'm about to release the second novel in my ROOTS AND STARS epic time travel fantasy romance series, and I’m in love with the cover art!

I write fantasy under the pen name Leia Talon (for the story behind my pen name, check out my author website), and I've been working on this series for over eight years. It's exciting to finally have this book ready to publish!

Let's gush over the cover art, shall we?

What does this cover say to you?

How does it make you feel?

Custom Fantasy Cover Art

Lara Wynter designed this cover for me as a custom piece to compliment the cover she did for Falling Through the Weaving, book one in the ROOTS AND STARS duology, which is part of the overarching universe of the World Tree Chronicles.

I love the combination of elements in this: fire, water, lightning, stars. And the dragon at the crux of it all.

I’ve been having a lot of fun playing around with images to announce the upcoming release of Dragons in the Weaving. Every time I see the cover it gives me a little shiver of glee!

The World Tree Chronicles

The Saga Continues...

Falling Through the Weaving is the first book in an epic adventure that gets grander and riskier as it evolves.

In Dragons in the Weaving, Shelta must navigate the expectations of the gods while fighting to save her family from outside threats.

Though all the gods watch her, one keeps watch from the shadows. Shelta finds a patron in an exiled immortal who values freedom as much as she does...

Dragons in the Weaving

When Shelta is injured in battle, she travels to Asgard to save her unborn child. In return, the gods ask her to become the first world-weaver in ages: a dragon rider whose actions ripple through all of creation. Her mission: to shift the currents of destruction poisoning the multiverse of the World Tree.

But combat training with Thor and riddles with Merlin can only go so far. Secretly, Shelta turns to Loki, a self-professed connoisseur of musicians, and trades her most vulnerable songs for a pair of enchanted blades that allow her to open portals and kill with a thought. Shelta doesn't want to be a vigilante, and she's no one's savior, but she'll do what it takes to protect her family from the schemes of the gods.

Dragons and Gods

The Roots and Stars duology is only the first part of a saga that spans generations, reaching into the pasts of the gods.

There's more to come.

Now, before I start getting all excited and tell you about my grand plans for upcoming books in the World Tree Chronicles, let me say that, though I do have a third book written, at the time of this post it needs an overhaul of revisions, and book four is not yet drafted.

So. The next duology might be a while, but it's in the works.

Roots and Stars is Shelta's story, published and complete so you can read it all in one go without waiting for the next book. But there's a planned second duology in the World Tree Chronicles, called Dragons and Gods.

Dragons and Gods centers around Shelta's children and their impact on the World Tree. As the series name suggests, there are more dragons, more gods, and more reinvented legends.

While Roots and Stars is written in first person, Dragons and Gods will be third person, multi-POV. This means you get to see from the eyes of several different characters. I'm still working on Dragons and Gods, so there is no set publishing date at this time. But, oh, will it be worth the wait.

Here’s a teaser of the art from the Dragons and Gods series...

Yay! Thank you! I hope you think so. I've got the paperback proof in my hand... one more read through before I hit publish. I couldn't guess how many times I've read this story, and yet I still love it! 💖

That is indeed an awesome cover! I need more time to read so I can get to these books.

I grew to love Norse mythology as a child and remember reading a number of other fantasy books with that as a backdrop. I really would love to see what you're doing with it.

Norse mythology has sprung so many stories. I'm straying from traditional mythology a lot, doing a mash-up of myths, as it were. The first book hints at magic and gods, while the second book dives in and reinvents Asgard and a number of the immortals who call it home. This story is so much fun to write, and a big part of that is bringing in the gods. Thanks for sharing in my excitement! 😊
