[ENG-ESP] 📚👑 Book Review: Scarred (A Never After Novel) 🗡️🚬

Hello Hello Community! ✨, how nice it is to be here for the first time with a publication of this style, for a long time I wanted to bring through this medium some book review but for various reasons I had not been able to until now, among the reasons is that until a few months ago I had not been able to overcome a reading block that accompanied me for several years, but it turns out that I resorted to reading again to ignore my university assignments 🤣, and that helped me to reconnect with this habit that I enjoy a lot (and that also stresses me out because when I get hooked on a story I don't let it go until I finish it 🤣). Today I'm going to tell you about this particular book 🤣, less than a week ago I found it and not only I finished it in a blink of an eye, but also as soon as I finished it I thought "I have to talk about this book", and that's how we have arrived here to talk about Scarred: A Never After Novel 👑🗡️.

Two brothers, a girl and a throne, that's what Emily McIntire presents us with in this second book of her Never After saga where we see fairytale villains achieve their happily ever after. Tristan longs for only one thing: The Crown; The throne has never been his destiny, but that of his brother Michael who has been responsible for years of sowing hatred and resentment in his brother, through abuse and humiliation, so when his father dies and Michael ascends to the throne, Tristan devises a great plan of rebellion that will make him keep the throne at any measure, However, the one thing he never contemplated in his plan was the arrival of Lady Sara Beatreaux, his brother's betrothed and future queen, who shakes Tristan's confidence in his decisions and draws him into an even more dangerous struggle: a war between his greed and love.

What no one knows, not even Tristan, are Sara's true plans, her only goal so far has been to marry the King and wipe out her entire family, and thus avenge her father's death. Tristan is on her list of people who must die, and yet Sara is also involved in an internal struggle where loyalty to her family reigns, but between love and hate there is a fine line and when secrets come to light, our protagonist is caught up in a maze of lies and manipulations that make her distrust everyone, and that bring her even closer to the villain she was not supposed to fall in love with.

I came to this book thanks to Tik Tok, a social network that lately has become my source of literary recommendations 🤣, and the truth is that if I told my 16 year old version (who was the most reading) that today we would be reading a story like this, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't believe me 🤣🤣. I'm not going to sugarcoat this, the book is completely a dark romance and our protagonist is a villain in every sense of the word, but as he says himself in the story, she is his equal 🗡️. It's a story loaded with sensitive themes that I wouldn't really recommend to everyone, there is a lot of violence, there are many erotic scenes with a certain sadistic overtone, our protagonists are not white doves and each one carries a load of traumas quite important, and yet it is a story that is very enjoyable and has a fairly fair ending, and I say this taking into account that it is the story of a villain, but the author really manages to hook you with everything that is happening in the book, she manages to make you empathize with the characters even when you don't agree with the methodology they use to achieve their goals 🤣, and at the end at least I was left with a feeling of having read an excellent story.

Obviously it is not a perfect book, the story is morally questionable but you know this from the moment you decide to read it 🤣, it has its positive and negative points, among the positive ones I highlight that it is narrated from two versions, Tristan's and Sara's, and that is interesting because it gives you a broad view of the events and allows you to see at what point in the story each one falls in love, This is a detail that I have always liked in stories that are narrated by different characters and that I liked in this story, it is also a very pleasant and easy to digest reading, this is important because we must remember that we are talking about morally questionable facts, and although the author does not soften anything of what the protagonists do, it is true that she achieves a point in which it is comfortable to read, and that is definitely an important merit. On the other hand, among the negative points I have to say that the dialogues in the erotic scenes sometimes seemed to be taken from Wattpad stories of 2015 🤦🏻‍♀️, so the truth is that they were a bit uncomfortable to read but because of the dialogue itself, and although there is a warning that there is a lot of +18 content, there comes a point where it is too much, As I said there is a lot of sadism in these scenes so it is something to take into account, and finally the last weak point I find is that the story is a bit predictable, there is a "plot twist" of the events that the truth is seen coming from long before and in some ways the end feels a bit rushed, but in part it is because of what I mentioned that there are things that are seen coming.

As for the characters, without a doubt the one I hated the most was Michael, he is a highly unbearable, self-centred and shameless character, and I'm actually glad I didn't have him so present in the story because I feel like that would have only made me like him worse. Tristan and Sara are two very well constructed protagonists, both are morally questionable but you still manage to connect a lot with their story and you get to feel a lot of their chemistry, maybe I could lean more towards Sara because Tristan definitely does things that are too shocking for me, and on his part there is too much violence, while Sara is more of a stealthy and purposeful type, she wanted to avenge her father's death and acted accordingly, maybe I would have liked to see more action on her part, because they make it clear that she has prepared almost all her life for this, but at no point do we see her fight or plan anything on her own, and that's why in the end it's not so surprising that she has been manipulated, although I must say that just this makes a good match with Tristan. However, the one who definitely stole my heart was Simon, I enjoyed all his appearances, I ached for all his story and I was delighted with his ending, but I won't say more about him because he is the character that deserves to be known in the journey of reading 🤭, so I'm sorry, if you want to know who I'm talking about you'll have to check another review or read the book.

¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, que agradable es estar por aquí por primera vez con una publicación de éste estilo, desde hace mucho que quería traer por éste medio alguna reseña de libros pero por diversos motivos no había podido hasta ahora, entre los motivos está que hasta hace unos meses no había podido superar un bloqueo lector que me acompañó por varios años, pero resulta que volví a recurrir a la lectura para ignorar mis asignaciones de la universidad 🤣, y eso me ayudó a volver a conectar con éste hábito que disfruto un montón (y que me estresa también porque cuando me engancho con una historia no la suelto hasta terminarla 🤣). El día de hoy les hablaré de éste libro tan particular 🤣, hace menos de una semana que dí con él y no solo me lo acabé en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, sino que además en cuanto lo terminé de una vez pensé “tengo que hablar de éste libro”, y es así como hemos llegado aquí para hablar de Scarred: Una Historia de Nunca Jamás 👑🗡️.

Dos hermanos, una chica y un trono, eso es lo que nos plantea Emily McIntire en éste segundo libro de su saga Nunca Jamás en donde vemos a villanos de cuentos alcanzar su felices para siempre. Tristán solo anhela una cosa: La Corona; el trono nunca ha sido su destino, sino el de su hermano Michael quien se ha encargado por años de sembrar el odio y el resentimiento en su hermano, a través de maltratos y humillaciones, así que cuando su padre muere y Michael asciende al trono, Tristán elabora un gran plan de rebelión que lo hará quedarse con el trono a cualquier medida, sin embargo lo único que nunca contempló en su plan fue la llegada de Lady Sara Beatreaux, la prometida de su hermano y futura reina, quien hace tambalear la seguridad en las decisiones de Tristán y lo hace entrar en una lucha aún más peligrosa: una guerra entre su codicia y el amor.

Lo que nadie sabe, ni siquiera Tristán, son los verdaderos planes de Sara, su único objetivo hasta ahora ha sido casarse con el Rey y acabar con toda su familia, y así poder vengar la muerte de su padre. Tristán está en su lista de personas que deben morir, y aún así Sara también se ve envuelta en una lucha interna donde reina la lealtad a su familia, pero entre el amor y el odio hay una delgada línea y cuando los secretos salen a la luz, nuestra protagonista se ve envuelta en un laberinto de mentiras y manipulaciones que la hacen desconfiar de todos, y que la acercan aún más al villano del que no se debía enamorar.

Yo llegué a éste libro gracias a Tik Tok, red social que últimamente se ha convertido en mí fuente de recomendaciones literarias 🤣, y la verdad es que si yo le dijera a mi versión de 16 años (que era la más lectora) que hoy por hoy estaríamos leyendo una historia de éste tipo, estoy bastante segura de que no me creería 🤣🤣. No voy a suavizar ésto, el libro es completamente un romance oscuro y nuestro protagonista es un villano con todas las letras de la palabra, pero como bien dice él mismo en la historia, ella es su igual 🗡️. Es una historia cargada de temas sensibles que realmente no le recomendaría a todo el mundo, hay mucha violencia, hay muchas escenas eróticas cargadas de cierto matiz sádico, nuestros protagonistas no son blancas palomas y cada uno lleva una carga de traumas bastante importantes, y aún así es una historia que se disfruta muchísimo y que tiene un final bastante justo, y lo digo teniendo en cuenta que es la historia de un villano, pero realmente la autora logra engancharte con todo lo que está sucediendo en el libro, logra que empaticemos con los personajes aún cuando no estás de acuerdo con la metodología que utilizan para alcanzar sus objetivos 🤣, y al final al menos yo quedé con una sensación de haber leído una excelente historia.

Obviamente no es un libro perfecto, la historia es moralmente cuestionable pero ésto lo sabes desde que decides leerla 🤣, tiene sus puntos positivo y negativos, entre los positivos resalto que está narrado desde dos versiones, la de Tristán y la de Sara, y eso es interesante porque te da una visión amplia de los acontecimientos y te permite ver en qué punto de la historia se enamora cada uno, éste es un detalle que siempre me ha gustado de las historias que son narradas por diferentes personajes y que en efecto me gustó de ésta historia, además es una lectura muy amena y fácil de digerir, a esto es importante porque recordemos que estamos hablando de hechos moralmente cuestionables, y aunque la autora no suaviza nada de lo que hacen los protagonistas, si es verdad que logra un punto en el que resulta cómodo leerlo, y eso definitivamente es un mérito importante. Por otro lado, entre los puntos negativos tengo decir que los diálogos en las escenas eróticas a veces parecían sacados de historias de Wattpad de 2015 🤦🏻‍♀️, o sea la verdad sí resultaban un poco incómodas de leer pero por el diálogo en sí, y aunque existe la advertencia de que hay mucho contenido +18 igual llega un punto en el que resulta demasiado, como dije hay mucho sadismo en éstas escenas asi que es algo a tener bastante en cuenta, y finalmente el último punto débil que encuentro es que la historia si resulta ser un poco predecible, hay un “plot twist” de los hechos que la verdad se ve venir desde mucho antes y en cierto modo el final se siente algo apresurado, pero en parte es por lo que menciono de que hay cosas que se ven venir.

En cuanto a los personajes, sin duda alguna al que más odié fue a Michael, es un personaje altamente insoportable, egocéntrico y descarado, y la verdad me alegra no tenerlo tan presente en la historia porque siento que eso solo habría hecho que me cayera peor. Tristán y Sara son dos protagonistas muy bien construidos, ambos son moralmente cuestionables pero aún así logras conectar mucho con su historia y llegas a sentir mucho su química, quizás me podría inclinar más hacia Sara porque definitivamente Tristán hace cosas que son demasiado impactantes para mí, y de su parte hay demasiada violencia, mientras que Sara es más del tipo sigilosa y con propósito, ella quería vengar la muerte de su padre y en función de eso actuaba, quizás me habría gustado ver más acción de su parte, porque nos dejan claro que ella se ha preparado casi toda su vida para ésto, pero en ningún momento la vemos pelear o planificar algo por su cuenta, y por eso al final no sorprende tanto que haya sido manipulada, aunque debo decir que justamente ésto hace buen complemento con Tristán. Sin embargo, quien definitivamente se robó mi corazón fue Simón, disfruté todas sus apariciones, me dolió toda su historia y quedé encantada con su final, pero de él no diré más nada en concreto porque es el personaje que merece ser conocido en el trayecto de la lectura 🤭, así que lo siento, si quieren saber de quién hablo tendrán que consultar otra reseña o leer el libro.
