Warm greetings to all. Today I bring you a very interesting proposal, full of history, fiction, lycanthropy, and great messages for all of humanity, to continue encouraging the love of reading and elevating our general and comprehensive culture.
The Kingdom of This World by Alejo Carpentier is the book I present to you today. It was published in Cuba in 1949 and is the second novel by this great writer, considered the greatest novelist of all time, so much so that he transcends national and American borders.
The curious thing about his characters is that most belong to history, that is, they are real, while others, like Ti Noel, are part of a majestic fiction.
Below is a brief plot of the novel:
In Haiti, Black people lived under the slave regime of the French colonists. Mackandal led a secret uprising against the oppressors using the poison he had prepared. He was discovered and captured, then burned at the stake, although the slaves believed he had been saved by being transformed into an animal. As the years passed, the cruelty of the masters increased; the slaves united, led by Bouckman, but were defeated, and the leader was killed. Another historical period is narrated: the reign of Henri Christophe. Black people are shown working under the watchful eye of other Black people. The construction of the La Ferrière fortress is described. After a fight against the oppressor, the king is defeated. Finally, Ti Noël, who has been present throughout the periods, appears old in the face of a new exploitation of the republican mulattoes. He wanted to fight them, but out of cowardice, he decided to turn into a goose to escape danger. However, he realized that the only way to freedom was through struggle, so he declared war.
This work consists of four parts, reflecting the historical cycles Carpentier captures within its pages: the French colonists, the dictatorship of Henri Christophe, and the mulatto land surveyors.
The kingdom of this world presents a rich, broad, and varied language, with extensive use of adjectives and great ornamentation. A variety of expressive resources are used, with a greater emphasis on metaphors, to compare the different locations depicted.
I recommend using dictionaries and, occasionally, Google Translate, as words from other languages, such as Latin, are sometimes used.
The primary message of this novel is the role of man on earth, which is none other than to forge his own path, fight for his ideas, his freedom, and above all, to never cease conquering the kingdom of this world.

El reino de este mundo de Alejo Carpentier es el ejemplar que les presento hoy. Fue publicado en Cuba en el año 1949 siendo la segunda novela de este gran escritor, considerado el mayor novelista de todos los tiempos tanto así que rebasa las fronteras nacionales y americanas.
Lo curioso de sus personajes es que la mayoria pertencen a la historia, es decir son reales y otros como Ti Noel forman parte de una majestuosa ficción .
A continuación les dejo un pequeño argumento de la novela:
En Haití los negros vivían bajo el régimen esclavista de los colonos franceses. Mackandal dirigió una sublevación secreta empleando el veneno preparado por él contra los opresores, fue el descubierto y apresado, luego quemado en la hoguera, aunque los esclavos creyeron que se había salvado convertido en animal. Con el paso de los años aumenta la crueldad de los amos; los esclavos se unen dirigidos por Bouckman , pero fueron derrotados y asesinado el cabecilla. Se narra otro período histórico: el reinado de Henri Christophe. Allí aparecen negros trabajando bajo la vigilia de otros negros. Se describe la construcción de la fortaleza La Ferrière. Después de una fuente de lucha contra el opresor, es derrotado el rey. Por último, Ti Noel que ha estado presente en todos los períodos, aparece ya viejo frente a una nueva explotación de los mulatos republicanos. Quiso luchar contra ellos, pero por cobardía decidió convertirse en ganso para huir del peligro, no obstante, comprendió que la única forma de alcanzar la libertad era la lucha, por lo que lanzó su declaración de guerra.
Esta obra consta de cuatro partes. Las cuales reflejan los ciclos históricos que Carpentier recoge en sus páginas : los colonos franceses, la dictadura de Henri Christophe y los mulatos agrimensores.
El reino de este mundo presenta un lenguaje rico, amplio ,variado, con una gran uso de adjetivos y gran ornamentacion . Se utilizan variados recursos expresivos , haciendo mas énfasis en las metáforas, para comparar los distintos lugares puestos en escena .
Te recomiendo el uso de diccionarios y en ocasiones el traductor de Google, debido a que en ocasiones se utilizan palabras en otro idioma como el latín.
El mensaje primordial de esta novela es el papel del hombre en la tierra, el cual no es más, que labrar su propio camino, luchar por sus ideas, su libertad y sobre todo no dejar de conquistar el reino de este mundo.
