So it has been a while since I last wrote a review about any book I have read...I am glad I came across this initiative and it sparked me to get back into reading more diligently as well as writing reviews. Without any further ado, lets get right into the Q & A.
1. What is the first book you remember reading as a child?
The first book I can remember reading when I was 11 years old was "The Shack" by William P Young. It was a beautifully written novel which tells a gripping story of a father who comes into terms with the fate of his daughter at a camping trip. It was my first time being introduced to a well put together plot with series of twists and metaphors which will make you stop in your tracks and read between the lines. Few weeks ago, I was surprised to read a post here at hive where a person wrote a movie review of "The Shack". Prior to that, I had no idea that a movie about this book existed.
I would say that evening and night time (6 to 10 pm) are the best times to read because you can focus on slowing down with your day and let the creative juices flow in your mind. I usually spend my morning and afternoon time to get work related things out of the way. I would then take a walk at around 5:30 or 6pm to wind down. I usually designate a specific time towards reading and the thrill of writing a review fuels me to finish reading in 2 to 3 days.

3. In what format do you prefer to read? (paper vs digital)
I am 100% in favor of a hardcopy book but I love the convenience factor which comes with reading a book digitally. I used to read more digitally when I was commuting more often but now I have a lot of hard copy books which were given to me by a store owner who was closing down his store. I like the feeling of turning off my phone and laptop and just focusing on reading a book with a good view.
If you could take a peek inside my brain, you will find that it can be messy yet organized somehow. A lot of plans and ideas about multiple things can start bombarding my brain. Also, I find myself reaching out to my phone to take a short music break or check my messages. I usually snap back into reading again but I have been training myself to divide my readings into chunks with few breaks.
5. Favorite Genre?
It is hard to pick just one genre but I would say that I love adventure, thriller, and mystery. In fact, a lot of my inspiration for short stories come from these specific themes. Lately, I find myself reading more classical novels. They are filled with a lot of valuable messages and dilemmas which are true of our time and it has been a good way to obtain valuable lessons from cautionary tales.
Finally, I wanted to let out a big thank you to @nicxi for setting up this initiative! This was a great way to start my Saturday.
Thank you so much Steven! I did get quite lucky. The store owner was a very great and hard-working man and luckily his other businesses took off so he was very excited about leaving the country and joining his family back in Europe. He did sell some of the books as well as the tables and chairs etc but he was in a rush so he did give away some books for free.
Hahahah its okay we can perhaps call it an organized mess 😅 🤣
First book I remember reading. Tough question. I really can't be sure, but one would have been Dr. Seuss, "Green Eggs and Ham", somewhere under age five.
Anytime is reading time, it's all good as long as I'm reading.
Paper
Nothing, unless someone interrupts me to go do something else. When I read, I become immersed in it and have a long learned habit of blocking out distractions.
Mostly, I read non-fiction, so it's anything that will give me an opportunity to learn and grow. For fiction, I prefer reading literature.
Well done post, as always. I like the way you've asked questions. It leads to exploration and interaction.
Hahahaha I wasn't too sure about my first book either so I ended up picking an option which I could remember the most clearly.

I like this viewpoint. Its much better to not limit ourselves to a specific time and stay flexible.

Thankfully I have gotten a tad bit better with this. Usually if I have a specific goal in mind (ex: complete x pages by this day, I find that I can significantly lessen my chances of getting distracted.
Recently, I made a shift in the types of books of books I read. I used to read for leisure purposes before but now I try to incorporate books for learning and growth too.
LOL, you picked one you clearly remember! Whew, I was stretching my brain recall.
I've been shoving reading time everywhere all my life, so it's an old habit. Setting goals for how much you read is a very good way to approach it. Bite-sized chunks with no shattered teeth. 😉
It sounds like you're taking off with reading, branching out, like an avocado tree. Think how many yummy avocados there are! 😂🥑
Avocado.....mmmmmmm.....yum. It will be a while for a tree. What a delicious wait though. 😋
Better not say "avocado" around @dandays, he's very allergic to them. 😉

So I don't know why I am having issues finding the contest post for Q and A. I found one from 22 days go...but not the most recent one. I will look again right now but here is another contest which they are running in case you are interested:
It is due August 20th. Also there are several other contests which I have made a list of. Let me know if you would like to know about them as well. I can tag you on the contest post itself :) . It is completely up to you.

Yes qwerrie I do believe it is dated for now. The contest date may have passed away sadly :(
LOL I know the feeling of going a while without posting. Hehehehhe welcome to the snail gang. 🤣
Are you on any discord servers btw? I am in this server and they have a channel where they put up all contests people can participate in. There is a whole list of communities there as well as the discord server links of those communities.
*just in case here is the link :) . If you do end up joining, I will give you a warm welcome. If not, that is totally fine too 😊
sometimes I am rigid as f.... and anyway I did it - lets count that as a fun challenge instead of a contest, and still, it can get a curation rewards from #OCD cause its a good writing (well, I hope so!). a decent amount of efforts was put in. thank you one more time - meanwhile, havent you got a room for another slice of mushroom !PIZZA?
I do have a discord thing, feel free to share with me your secret number 😉
huh, and let me officially invite you to post your tropheis to the Fungi Lovers community? well, when you will stumble upon some cool mushroom weirdness, ofc!
I like your mentality around treating it as a challenge instead of a contest! I will have a look at your post soon once I am done with this one current post I am working on LOL.
Not sure if you may know about this but you can also use the ecency front end to boost your own posts! Hahahahha one can never be too full from eating pizza. Yayy you got a post in. Be proud of yourself !
I am in the know, yes, I earn points and invest them into boosting from time to time. But I dont use ecency nor at my office PC (where I am sitting right now), neither in smartphone - I use Ecency desktop version only at home PC, so, all my commenting today was for the love of it, not for the love of the points, haha (tho ofc I love them :))))
wow, I can't believe your luck, hha. You were gifted books from a store. Every book lover would want to be you.
I don't think mine is organized, haha. But I can relate to that feeling for sure

You have a way with putting things in a memorable way Nine 🤣. As the saying goes: don't bite off more than you can chew .
This is super lovely. Basically this is the plan. Now I only need to get started with an avocado tree..

They are, but you're not allowed to have them. Go fish for protein 😜
