Hello, hello bookhivers! How was your week? I hope it was as good as mine, lately I've been doing really well with my reading and I've come out of the block, I recently finished a very interesting thriller that we are going to talk about today "The Family Upstairs" or "Dentro De Casa" written by Lisa Jewell.
¡Hola, hola bookhivers! ¿Cómo estuvo su semana? Yo espero que tan bien como la mía, últimamente me ha ido muy bien con las lecturas y he salido del bloqueo, hace poco terminé un thriller muy interesante del cual vamos a hablar hoy “The Family Upstairs” o “Dentro De Casa” escrito por Lisa Jewell.
In a Chelsea mansion, two men and a woman, presumably part of a cult, have committed suicide, leaving a baby in the crib for the police to find. Twenty-five years later that baby, Libby, is given the house as a trust. A dark space full of secrets that she decides to discover.

The book broke my heart a bit because I've discovered that family thrillers are my thing, no one knows the secrets of a shady family more than the shady family itself, but the synopsis I read online, the recommendation I got on Instagram generated an expectation that burst me like a bubble.
El libro me rompió un poco el corazón porque he descubierto que los thriller familiares son lo mío, nadie conoce los secretos de una familia turbia más que la familia turbia en sí, pero la sinopsis que leí en línea, la recomendación que me dieron en Instagram me generó una expectativa que se me rompió como una burbuja.
I'm not saying it's a bad book, Lisa Jewell knows how to write. Her prose is not the fastest paced and there are chapters that I don't quite understand why they are there, but she sows doubt in an amazing way, I wanted to know more and more and never stop. Also, when she is connecting the dots in the story, she does it relaxed, like it's no big deal that the book is changing course, me shocked and her happy continuing her story. It's so cool.
No estoy diciendo que sea un mal libro, Lisa Jewell sabe escribir. Su prosa no tiene el ritmo más rápido y hay capítulos que no entiendo mucho por qué están ahí, pero siembra la duda de una manera increíble, quería saber más y más y no parar nunca. Además, cuando va conectando los puntos en la historia, lo hace relajada, como si no fuera la gran cosa que el libro estuviera cambiando de rumbo, yo impactada y ella feliz continuando su historia.
However, that nonchalance for surprises was perhaps too much for me because even though it is a book with mistreatment, suspense and so on, it leaves me hungry for real confrontations. Even the resolution of the mystery is left to the protagonist on a silver platter.
Sin embargo, ese desenfado para las sorpresas quizá fue demasiado para mí porque aunque es un libro con maltrato, con suspenso y demás, me deja con hambre de enfrentamientos reales. Hasta la resolución del misterio se la dejan a la protagonista en bandeja de plata.
Shady and dark characters I love, and here was no exception, my problem is that when I wanted to know more about them, that I got to get excited...book over. I felt that I was robbed of many moments in the story and that the characters were not used enough. The main character is pretty simple, she is there for others to tell her story but she doesn't change anything in the whole story, if it's someone else's story and not hers, why is she the main character? Because she doesn't even narrate the story alone, it's done by three.
Los personajes turbios y oscuros me encantan, y aquí no fue la excepción, mi problema es que cuando quise saber más de ellos, que llegué a emocionarme… se acabó el libro. Sentí que me robaron muchos momentos de la historia y que a los personajes no se les aprovechó lo suficiente. La protagonista es bastante simple, está ahí para que otros cuenten su historia pero no cambia nada en toda la historia, si es la historia de otros y no la suya, ¿por qué es la protagonista? Porque ni siquiera narra ella sola la historia, lo hacen tres.
The ending sealed my disappointment when it was a bit pink and confusing on top of that. They are gray, murky, damaged characters, how are you going to give them pink endings if this isn't Disney?
El final terminó de sellar mi decepción cuado fue un poco rosa y encima confuso. Son personajes grises, turbios, dañados, ¿cómo le vas a dar finales rosas si esto no es Disney?
Despite all the reasons I have for giving it a bad rating I must admit that, although it is not for me, it is a very entertaining book with good parts as well as bad. If it hadn't been painted to me as more than it really was I would have liked it more, but the official synopsis promises a lot and doesn't deliver. My final rating is in 3.5/5
A pesar de todos los motivos que tengo para darle una mala calificación debo admitir que, aunque no es para mí, es un libro muy entretenido y con partes buenas tanto como malas. Si no me lo hubiesen pintado como más de lo que realmente era, me hubiera gustado más, pero la sinopsis oficial promete mucho y no cumple. Mi calificación final es in 3.5/5.

jeje, entiendo a todos nos ha pasado. Me gusta mas leer clasicos, asi ya se que esperar...
Me llama mucho la atención este tipo de libros con misterios y personajes turbios, te generan como esa sensación de inquietud y curiosidad por lo que está pasando. La verdad es que voy a anotarlo para leerlo más adelante, ahora no estoy leyendo muchos libros pero poco a poco estoy retomando el hábito de leer libros propiamente.

Yo por lo general cuando termino un buen libro estoy súper bloqueada y me cuesta conectar con otro. Tengo un límite, si en 35 páginas no me gusta, me voy. Que es más o menos lo que tarda en entrar en calor una historia. Así me evito frustraciones, y varío entre géneros para no aburrirme.

Si lees romance te recomiendo "Una Luna Sin Miel" es súper relajante y entretenido para el bloqueo. Se detestan y por cosas de la vida tienen que pasar una mini luna de miel solos.
De misterio: "Verity, la sombra de un engaño". Es turbio y adictivo.
"El Regreso De Carrie Soto" también es bueno, una tenista toda empoderada y sarcástica que regresa del retiro a reclamar su récord .

Por lo que dices creo que quedaría picada porque necesitaría que se pelearan, necesitaría salseo. Aparte un final rosa para personajes por el estilo... No lo sé, está curiosa la decisión de la autora.
Sin embargo si como entretenimiento está bien pues puede que lo lea pronto.

Yo quedé picadísima, entre nosotras, es ese tipo de libro que sabes que alguien está haciendo cosas mal y nunca lo descubren. Tú pasas todo el libro esperando a que pague :(
