[ESP/ENG] Un libro que me hizo sobrepensar | A book that made me overthink

Este libro me hizo recapacitar en como las personas pueden llegar a ser manipuladoras cuando son inteligentes y manipulables cuando son susceptibles o ignorantes en algunas cosas. Este libro básicamente narra una situación que ocurre en la vida real, usando metáforas, sátira y algo de fantasía. Cabe destacar que George Orwell escribió este libro inspirándose en la Revolución Comunista de Stalin la cual ocurrió en el año 1917 en donde el autor estaba en total desacuerdo. Básicamente Orwell nos cuenta con animales lo que sucedió en esa revolución, usando esas metáforas como críticas a ese momento de la historia. El autor estaba en desacuerdo de cualquier idea totalitaria y la expresó en esta obra que fue publicada a finales de la Segunda Guerra Mundial ya que tampoco estaba de acuerdo con la ideología nazi, y se puede notar en su otra obra llamada 1984 (mi libro favorito) que este autor plasma sus ideales de manera increíble en estas historias, creando grandes obras literarias.

This book made me think about how people can become manipulative when they are intelligent and manipulable when they are susceptible or ignorant about some things. This book basically narrates a situation that occurs in real life, using metaphors, satire and some fantasy. It is worth mentioning that George Orwell wrote this book inspired by Stalin's Communist Revolution which occurred in 1917, where the author was in total disagreement. Basically Orwell tells us with animals what happened in that revolution, using these metaphors as criticism of that moment in history. The author disagreed with any totalitarian idea and expressed it in this work that was published at the end of the Second World War because he did not agree with the Nazi ideology, and you can notice in his other work called 1984 (my favorite book) that this author expresses his ideals in an incredible way in these stories, creating amazing literary works.

Rebelión en la Granja gira entorno a un grupo de animales que están resguardadas al principio por el granjero Howard Jones, sin embargo, un viejo cerdo antes de morir pidió que expulsaran al granjero a modo de crear una revolución en base a 7 mandamientos. Consiguen expulsar al granjero y a su esposa, para así formar la "Granja Animal" donde hay varios animales de granja como gallinas, caballos, ovejas, cabras, etc. Sin embargo, la granja es liderada por los cerdos al ser los más inteligentes, estos cerdos son Napoleon y Snowball, pero Napoleón logra expulsar a Snowball de la granja por diferencias en la construcción de un molino, siendo el líder máximo. Napoleón comienza dirigir la granja, donde los demás trabajaban y los cerdos supervisaban. Esto marcaba una diferencia de estatus entre los animales ya que mientras los demás trabajaban, los cerdos no se esforzaban pero al ser los que más inteligentes asumían el liderazgo, ya que los demás no sabían leer ni escribir ni siquiera. La casa del granjero se convirtió en un museo pero después de un tiempo, los cerdos se mudaron ahí. Así comienzan a haber irregularidades y diferencias en un lugar donde supuestamente todos son iguales.

Animal Farm revolves around a group of animals that are sheltered at the beginning by the farmer Howard Jones, however, an old pig before dying asked to expel the farmer in order to create a revolution based on 7 commandments. They manage to expel the farmer and his wife, thus forming the "Animal Farm" where there are several farm animals such as chickens, horses, sheep, goats, etc. However, the farm is led by the pigs being the most intelligent, these pigs are Napoleon and Snowball, but Napoleon manages to expel Snowball from the farm due to differences in the construction of a mill, being the maximum leader. Napoleon begins to run the farm, where the others worked and the pigs supervised. This marked a difference in status among the animals because while the others worked, the pigs did not work hard, but being the most intelligent, they assumed leadership, since the others could not even read or write. The farmer's house became a museum but after a while, the pigs moved in. So there begin to be irregularities and differences in a place where supposedly everyone is equal.

A partir de aquí, vemos como a Napoleón se le sube el poder a la cabeza y manipula las reglas aprovechando a que los demás son ignorantes en muchos temas. Esto ocasiona que Napoleón comience a negociar con otras granjas y esto hace que los animales comiencen a trabajar el doble, incluso los cerdos llegaron a negociar con humanos cuando supuestamente los odiaban. Los animales son explotados hasta llegar a su límite físico lo cual hace que hayan perdidas de mano de obra. El poder hace que los cerdos se vuelvan totalitarios y corruptos, llegando a ponerse las ropas de los humanos y andar en dos patas. Al final, no se distingue quien es el cerdo y quien es el humano. Esta historia muestra como el poder puede cegar a alguien, hay muchos líderes totalitarios que usan la ignorancia de otras para ejercer un liderazgo sobre ellos, llegando a hacer muchísimo daño. Realmente es una situación que se vive en muchos países e incluso, en la vida misma. A veces conocemos gente manipuladora que usa nuestros defectos o ignorancia para aprovecharse de nosotros, o simplemente piensan que al estar en un puesto más alto tienen derecho a hacer lo que quieran contigo, ese tipo de cosas suceden en la vida cotidiana, trabajo, escuela, universidad o incluso relaciones interpersonales. Es interesante como este tipo de historias nos hacen recapacitar en como nos dejamos manipular sin darnos cuenta y que es algo que hay que trabajar.

From this point on, we see how Napoleon's power goes to his head and he manipulates the rules, taking advantage of the fact that the others are ignorant on many issues. This causes Napoleon to start negotiating with other farms and this makes the animals begin to work twice as hard, even the pigs came to negotiate with humans when they supposedly hated them. The animals are exploited to their physical limits which causes labor losses. Power causes the pigs to become totalitarian and corrupt, even putting on the clothes of humans and walking on two legs. In the end, it is indistinguishable who is the pig and who is the human. This story shows how power can blind someone, there are many totalitarian leaders who use the ignorance of others to exercise leadership over them, doing a lot of damage. It is really a situation that is lived in many countries and even in life itself. Sometimes we meet manipulative people who use our defects or ignorance to take advantage of us, or simply think that being in a higher position they have the right to do whatever they want with you, that kind of things happen in everyday life, work, school, university or even interpersonal relationships. It is interesting how these types of stories make us think about how we allow ourselves to be manipulated without realizing it and that it is something that needs to be worked on.
