Love on the Brain By Ali Hazelwood | Review

Greetings, dear bookworms' community! In the absence of romantic comedy movies, I read the books, of course there are still romantic comedies, but it's been many years without many of these being released. These romcoms in book mode are quick, entertaining, and digestible. They are not the pinnacle of literature, neither will they leave me with a thought of deep introspection. Why do I read them? Because I want to 😁.

A falta de películas de comedias románticas, me leo los libros, claro que aún hay comedias románticas, pero hace muchos años sin que haya muchas de estas estrenándose. Estas Romcom en modo libros, son rápidos, entretenidos y digeribles. No son la cúspide de la literatura, tampoco me dejará un pensamiento de introspección profunda. ¿Por qué los leo? Porque quiero 😁.

Bee Königswasser is a neuroscience PhD with purple hair, a face covered in piercings and tattoos all over her body, and she runs an anonymous Twitter account called: What would Curie do? Where she created a community of women in the field of STEM. Thanks to a partnership with her company, she managed to enter a NASA program to create new helmets for astronauts. The NASA program is run by Levi Ward, a former doctoral student who is her nemesis, they can't even see each other and now they have to work together.

As it is logical, this is an enemy to Lovers, the story to me was quite predictable, and from the beginning I could see how it was going to end, but I was not discouraged.

The author, Ali Hazelwood, is a scientist, and she brought all her knowledge within the scientific field to these books, but she focuses more on the widespread male chauvinism within this field. I had already written a review of her first book before, where I expose in more depth the discomfort that I feel for having studied biology and the things that also happened to me while I was studying.

Bee Königswasser es una Dra. en neurociencias con el cabello morado, la cara cubierta de piercings y tatuajes por todo el cuerpo, además lleva una cuenta anónima de Twitter llamada: ¿Qué haría Curie? En la que creó una comunidad de mujeres en el campo del CTIM. Gracias a una alianza de su empresa, logra a entrar a un programa de la NASA para crear unos nuevos cascos para astronautas. El programa de la nasa es llevado por Levi Ward, un excompañero de doctorado que es su némesis, no se pueden ni ver y ahora les toca trabajar juntos.

Como es lógico, esto es un Enemies to Lovers, la historia a mí se me hizo bastante predecible, ya desde el principio se veeía como iba a terminar, pero igual no me desanimó.

La autora, Ali Hazelwood, es científica, y llevó todo su conocimiento dentro del campo científico a estos libros, pero se enfoca más en este machismo generalizado dentro de este ámbito. Yo ya había escrito una reseña de su primer libro con anterioridad, en donde expongo a mayor profundidad el malestar que me genera por haber estudiado Biología y las cosas que también me pasaban mientras estudiaba.

In this book, what is most detailed are the interpersonal relationships between members of the same work team and everything that people do to keep others from moving up. It also touches on the subject of graduate school entrance exams in the United States and how those with fewer resources have a harder time getting in than those who have more options to pay for their education.

The reality is that really, for as much STEM, neuroscience, and NASA as I've named, it's a pretty shallow book. But I had quite a bit of fun reading it, I found myself laughing out loud for a few moments, because it is after all a romantic comedy and that's the way it should be.

If you want to read something to just pass the time, I recommend it, but keep in mind everything I have told you in this review. See you soon in another review, have you read anything by this author yet?

En este libro, lo que más se detalla, son las relaciones interpersonales entre miembros de un mismo equipo de trabajoy todo lo que hacen las personas para que otros no asciendan. También toca el tema de los exámenes de admisión a los posgrados en los Estados Unidos y como aquellas personas con menos recursos les cuesta más acceder que a los que tienen más opciones para pagar por su educación.

La realidad es que realmente, por mucha CTIM, neurociencis y la NASA que he nombrado, es un libro bastante superficial. Pero yo me divertí bastante leyéndolo, me descubrí riendome a carcajadas durante algunos momentos, porque al fin y al cabo es una comedia romántica y así debe ser.

Si quieren leerse algo para simplemente pasar el rato, se los recomiendo, pero tengan en cuenta todo lo que les he dicho en esta reseña. Nos leemos pronto en otra reseña. ¿Ya has leído algo de esta autora?
