The day before yesterday, I had to leave the house and go visit my sister. She wasn't feeling so well, so I wanted to go keep her company and see if I could help out however I can. Getting to that part of the city, I remembered a bookstore I visited two years ago. It was my birthday, the twenty-third of December 2020. I had just closed from the day's work. I wasn't particularly a famous guy at work, or anywhere and almost every year I don't celebrate my birthday (no I am not a Jehovah's witnesses and I won't get into why I don't celebrate). So on that fateful day I decided to randomly stroll into this book store and buy myself something good. I wrote a post about it, but I can't stroll far back, forgive me. I got Davinci Code by Dan Brown. Yesterday I decided to visit the store again and see if I could get some new piece(S). Like every book lover, I'm also guilty of acquiring more books when I have a ton of unfinished once. The book store is stacked. Anytime I go in there, first my librarian instincts kicks in and I get irritated by the poor preservation and conservation process of the materials, the second instincts of a joyful little child who just found candy kicks in afterwards.
I know I have a bias for 'bestsellers' but I didn't actually pick this book for myself. I was first attracted by the author, then came the vendor's pitch, lol. He told me how every LAW student wants to get the book and how he was going to charge me a lot for it, haha. Top tier marketing.<\div>
Only a few things take my money without me getting concerned about how broke I'm getting, and books stays high up that list. These books are very affordable. I got them for around $5. Most of the books, if not all of the books are old. They get shipped from abroad and new readers get to live out their own desire through the books again. In a few years I'd also be sending my own collection across the globe with my scribbles in them, and another reader would be enveloped in the glimpse of my thought. I was texting one of my friends the other day and she told me she enjoys romantic books. I decided to get her a gift. I asked the vendor to get me some suggestions. A lot came pouring down, but I chose this, mainly because it was a thriller as much as it was a romance novel; a romantic thriller. I hope she likes it.
Ah yes, the great 'Stephen'. I like Johny Depp, and I love Stephen king, so when I saw this one I didn't even consider any other factor. I have only read part of "The shining", and thats the only idea of Stephen I have but I know and have heard of his literary prowess. It's quite big, hopefully I don't abandon it at some point.
Four Past Midnight is actually four different stories or novellas. It's one of my favorite Stephen King books.
