Trying new things is the right decision when you want to gain experience. Humans are basically 'bored' with routinity and activities, so choosing to do 'something new' is a wise decision. Have you ever done something new in your life and its a really good impact? Write in the comments!

Again and again, I like to experiment! Just like a department in a company called RND (research and department), I also do it in my kitchen. If a scientist has a laboratory, an artist has his own space in his office, a painter has a color pallete, then I have a kitchen to fill up with various types of food.

Even though trying new things is not something easy, in fact it tends to be very difficult and doesn't taste good, I still do it with joy. This is my way to make my heart happy again. So, this time, I experimented again with making food in my kitchen, of course this time it tasted different.


Do You Ever Try Dashi No Moto With Tempeh??

Getting to know new herbs and spices, since becoming a content writer at Hive, I have learned a lot about spices in various countries. For example, this time, I experimented with dashi and mixed it with a local flavor, tempeh. I'm bored with the same taste of tempeh, for example fried or blanched with lots of spices. However, what happens if tempeh is mixed with Japanese spices, Dashi No Moto.

There are various kinds of dashi no moto, some are made from animal and vegetable sources, this time I chose to buy one made from seaweed, making vegan or plant-based dishes, because tempeh is a very interesting thing.


Tempeh Dashi No Moto
The Recipe


With simple ingredients, which tend to be easy to find in stores or supermarkets around the house, I also got dashi no moto seasoning in one corner of a supermarket which was full of Japanese-style spices.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack tempeh
  • 1 pack dashi no moto (5g)
  • 1 piece of leek
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Oregano leaves powder
  • Black pepper and salt.

How to make tempeh dashi no moto:

  • 1 pack of tempeh which has been peeled then cut according to taste, I cut it like sticks with the appropriate thickness and width as shown. After it is cut, it is coated with garlic powder and salt, then grilled in a wokpan, without using oil so that it is less oily and low in calories.

  • Chop all the leeks and onions, then prepare the dashi no moto seasoning, garlic powder and oil in a small bowl. Heat the wokpan that has prepared and put all the ingredients in a small bowl.

  • The tempeh that has been roasted is also put into the wokpan, then sautéed over low heat so that all parts are evenly coated with the spices.

  • Add the chopped onions and leeks, then add 50ml of water and leave to dry.

  • Serve tempeh dashi no moto with a little sesame seeds on top. Can be eaten with warm rice and seaweed soup!
