Boredom can sometimes make us very creative, right? Like what I did this time. I didn't even realize that I could be this creative in making food that I never knew before.
It started with having a lot of sesame stock. I bought a kilogram of raw sesame and I also wondered why I did that. Ecommerce made me buy something that I clearly didn't need too much like this, but because the price was very cheap compared to buying a little, so I bought a kilo and I was confused about what to do with this much sesame.
Sesame is not easy to store in the long term, it can grow weevils in it. It's a hassle to clean weevils from sesame, not only drying it but also looking for it one by one. So, I decided to finish this sesame in a short time. So I made this menu, I called it sesame balls.
Why is it called that? Of course I have no idea to give it another name other than that. The shape is like a ball and the filling is ground sesame, surely everyone will think the same as me.
Sesame Ball Ingredients:
- 500 gr raw sesame
- 100 gr sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Oil for frying
- 250 gr glutinous rice flour
- 30 ml olive oil
- 150 ml water
How to make sesame balls:
The ingredients used are quite simple, but the technique of making these sesame balls is a bit tricky. There are a few things you need to know, namely you use hot water to make the dough and also use oil with medium heat so that the sesame balls do not burn and break quickly.
But, here are the steps..
- Raw sesame should be roasted first to get a good taste, after roasting it should be cooled first then chopped or ground with sugar.
- Add a little salt and make it into a ball shape for the filling.
- After that, weigh the white glutinous rice flour, olive oil and water with the right composition. Use hot water and stir slowly to moisten the flour.
- Take a little dough and wrap the sesame topping into a perfect ball. After that, put sesame seeds on the outside. So that there are sesame seeds on the filling and also on the outside of the dough to make it crispy.
- Heat the oil, but use low heat. Then put in the sesame balls before the oil gets very hot, stir continuously until the balls expand and lift them up for a while.
- Drain from the remaining oil and serve!
See you the next time hive friends!
