Hello vegan friends, today I will share and invite you to prepare one of the snack recipes that can be said to be simple from the original recipe, namely pempek. Why do I say simple? Because as we know that the process of making pempek usually uses fish or meat, but this time I modified it without animal ingredients or products, but with simple ingredients but the taste is no less delicious than pempek in general.
Pempek or also called empek-empek is a typical food from one of the regions in Indonesia, namely Palembang, South Sumatra. Pempek is made from wheat flour mixed with tapioca flour and with the addition of other ingredients such as mashed garlic, flavorings and salt.
In addition, to add to the delicious sensation. Pempek is served with a sauce called cuko. Cuko sauce has a sweet, sour and spicy taste, isn't that a very complete taste. Curious, stay here I will show you how to make it below.
Ingredients needed:
- 150 grams of wheat flour
- 300 grams of tapioca flour
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 tsp Mushroom broth
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 400 ml water.
- 5 pieces of red cayenne pepper
- 1 clove of garlic
- 150 grams of brown sugar
- 5 pieces of tamarind (dissolve)
- 300 ml water
- Cucumber, cut into small cubes
How to make:

Second: cook over low heat, stirring until the dough clumps. Then remove. Add tapioca flour. Stir until the dough can be shaped
Third: take the dough and shape it as desired. It can be oval, submarine or other. Do the same for the remaining dough
Fourth: boil water in a pan. Wait until it boils. Put the pempek that has been formed into boiling water. Boil until cooked and float. Then remove and drain
Fifth: heat the oil. Fry the pempek using medium heat, until golden brown. Remove and drain. Set aside
First: grind the red cayenne pepper with garlic and salt.
Second: slice the brown sugar so that it dissolves easily when cooked
Third: dissolve the tamarind with 100 ml of water. Remove the seeds.
Fourth: mix all the ingredients in a pan, namely the ground spices, brown sugar, tamarind solution and water. Stir well. Cook until boiling and cooked. Don't forget to check the taste
Serving suggestions
Prepare your serving dish. Cut the pempek into small pieces so that it is easy to eat. Then pour over the cuko sauce. Add other toppings such as diced fresh cucumber. The pempek is ready to eat.
The chewy texture, as well as the savory and delicious taste with the addition of cuko sauce, really make this dish very special and a favorite of many people.
This is not the first time I have made vegan pempek, because the delicious taste makes me really enjoy it and want to make it many times.

This is a nice and lovely recipe, the cuko also looks amazing
Thank you my friend.. Yes, cuko sauce can be said to be the match of pempek, the combination of both makes the taste of this dish so complete. You should try making it at home.
