A couple of days ago, I came across a post by @akipponn.
In that post he reviewed an amazing book called a new way to bake by Philip khoury.
It might interest you to know that the book is a vegan based recipe book.
When I read further,I realized that Philip khoury has a YouTube channel, where he shares 100%vegan recipes.
I happily went to the YouTube channel to see things for myself and in the end, I was amazed. I saw so many amazing vegan recipes, I watched some of his videos and I was amazed with everything I saw.
I decided to start with something simple, something he called gianduja. I don't know the meaning but it tastes amazing. I would give it 100/100.
Though I modified the ingredients to suit the things I have, I was able to create an amazing treat, that was loved by my husband and daughter.
This is how I made it.
- 1 cup of chocolate
- 1/2 cup of groundnut
- 5 tablespoon of sugar
I began by slicing the nuts in a clean cutting board (in the video,he used hazelnut) . I sliced half of the nuts and grind the remaining nuts.
I poured some quantity of water into a clean pot, added the 5 tablespoons of sugar and allowed it to boil for few seconds. I went in with the sliced nuts (just the sliced ones) and allowed it to caramelize with the sugar.

The nuts was harden and they sticked to each other , I allowed it to cool down. Then used my hands to separate them.
In the video, he gave the chocolate and nut a nice blend but I decided to take a different route. I had to melt my chocolate and then add the grinded nuts, using the same pot, I used to caramelize my sugar.
After mixing , I allowed it to cool down a little, then poured the caramelized nuts into the melted chocolate and grinded nut mixture.
I mixed them together, then I began rolling them into a round shape. After rolling them, I rolled the chocolate in the remaining grinded nuts, which gave it, it's beautiful look.
You can serve frozen, but the treats you see in this photos aren't frozen.
I love everything about this treat, it was moist, crunchy and extremely delicious.
The caramelized nuts gave it's crunchiness while the melted chocolate gave it's moist texture, then the combination of the grinded nuts with the melted chocolate, gave it's extreme nice and wonderful taste.
I couldn't get enough of this wonderful treat, and I would love it make it over and over again.
The fact my family loved it ,gave me the satisfaction I needed.
My babygirl loved it so much and even wanted more but we've already finished the ones I made.
I promised to make another one for her but this time,I experiment with another nut.
