Dussehra symbolizes the win of good over evil

For the first time in last two years, we went out in the occasion of Dussehra or Vijayadashami. It was good to see people are no more worried about Covid to celebrate this occasion. Unfortunately, the rain is the spoiler this time, though it was little better in the morning. We visited few places to see the decorations, and started with the nearby place.

After seeking the blessings here and taking the prasad, went to see another famous pandal, which was a little far. I was not expecting a lot of crowd, as we went during the day time. Usually the crowd is huge in the evening, because of very beautiful light decorations. But I was wrong.

If you see that left most road in this picture, its full of vehicles expanding more than a mile. That too, when it ideally should have been have only few cars. So instead of entering that road, we decided to move on straight on the highway over-bridge and see it from the top.

Then we moved on to the next nearest celebration, which was almost similar in look and feel, but a miniature version.

Apart from the beautiful decoration, the other interesting item to see was the moving Sudarshana Chakra, which you can see in the video. Definitely some contribution of technology there. Moving on to the next stage, that was a GOLD CLASS presentation.

These are all real silver and gold - if you think, these are cosmetic. Every year, they add values to their asset, in a planned manner to add more gold. And isn't the workmanship beautiful ? So many people would have worked on this for last few months.

20221005_155621.jpg

This being at the center of the Capital city, there were crowd coming in from every corner. And I am sure, because of the weather, you see only this many people, else it would have been easily 20x of what you see. And they will be definitely there by evening.

The small boy has a bigger responsibility on his shoulder.

20221005_155418.jpg

And that Ferries wheel brings a lot of memories - even today I enjoy it. My daughter loves it as well, in fact only she and me sit, my son and my wife are scared. But they were very hungry and did not like to walk before eating, so we tried to find out a place to eat.

20221005_160630.jpg

I never thought, it would be so competitive to get some foods. We had to wait for more than 30 minutes to get a seat and then another 30 minutes before we got it served on the table. The food was not up to expectation, but that is what happens, when demand increases.

20221005_143035.jpg

And you know what happens after eating food 😀, they wanted to go home and take rest after doing a little shopping at a very nearby H&M shop.

And this was all the fun, but then the morning was quite busy with the vehicle Puja. I have posted about that tradition earlier, so will share the pics this time. I choose to do a face lift of the car, by going to a nearby servicing center and this post is part of my google review : https://goo.gl/maps/eZ8sgmZr2h3Yq6DA8. It was an amazing experience and I will go back for a engine detailing service. As its getting older, it needs more care !!

My daughter did lot of help to get this done, and that is how they learn these traditions. Hopefully, Vijayadashami will bring in all good news for all of us.

And the festival is celebrated in mega way in the adjacent city of Cuttack, which is a cultural heritage. Feel free to enjoy some nice captures in this thread :

In a western world, where the urban way of life, has led atheism among young people to grow, to see the great turnout in religious races in your country, moves me and makes me jealous! Unfortunately, the westerners, in a protestant way, have linked prosperity and what is measurable, with culture! Great post as always!

Wow, look at all those people out and about! :) It's great to see..

ah ha, COVID is like one of the evils that are now triumphed over! Good has won!

💪😊🌈

U and fam are looking good as usual. That car is so cute!

It is one of the most auspicious festivals celebrated in India. Every year we go to Durga puja pandals in Kolkata. But this year I missed the pandal hopping. But I revisited the pandal hopping through your post. It's beautiful and mesmerizing!😊

Kolkata is famous, the best place. But then I fear going there, because of the crowd, pick pocketing.

That's true, but we have not faced it yet! Hope not to face this in future too😄

I love family photos, they are the best lasting memories. With so many cars there are also bicycles which are a good way to see what is around you clearly and comfortably.

Maintain all the fleet :)

I like your post a lot! I love the culture in India, and this country and Thailand are the ones that I want to visit the most. I’m a Yoga teacher and I didn’t know Dussehra! Thank you very much for teaching something, at least to me. She has a very good message and energy 😊 Happy Full Moon!!

Happy Full Moon 🤛

That´s another interesting tradition from your remarkably rich culture but what actually caught my attention even more is how fast your kids are growing! Your son is already almost as tall as you and your daughter almost as tall as your wife, wow! :)

@tipu curate

Yes, they are growing pretty fast, probably she will be the tallest :)

Your daughter? Wow! :) I know that Indian people in general are not very tall so maybe she can be a great basketball player if reaches at least some 180 cm :)

wow those are really beautiful statuses sir thanks a lot for sharing.

It was good to see people are no more worried about Covid to celebrate this occasion.

Reading posts like this makes me exultant. We're seeing better days ahead wherein Covid will just be part of history. I might not be that knowledgeable about your culture and the importance of this event but knowing that it's the first time you've celebrated this after 2 years, it must be exciting and joyful. We also have a huge celebration in my Province, we call it Sinulog and hopefully after 2 years of skipping the activities we'll have one by January next year!

Yes, we need to get back to normal. Now even though they are promoting the booster does, seems many are not interested.

I'll be getting my 2nd booster shot this Saturday. Hopeful that we'll get back to normal soon!

It's nice to go out for walks with kids, every moment is important to them with parents, but I don't like big crowds. Precautions are obligatory

Wow I feel excited seeing lovely stuffs shared from India which is quite amazing and thanks for sharing.

Lovely photos and you seem to had to a great family time. Also your i10 car lo0ks so shiny..

Ya, they almost did a face lift.

It is awesome and exciting to know about such tradition with lovely pictures taken as well.

great photographs friend, it is also always interesting to learn about other cultures and in particular that of your country which has so much to offer the rest of the world

If you see a large number of people, COVID 19 is already being left behind and that is good for everyone. It's great to see how much more Gold and Silver are being added to the decorations.

That's amazing festival. The decorations have magnificent colors, a wonderful experience !

Finally we celebrated dussehra after 2 years without any restrictions.
Thanks for sharing such nice pictures

That's a lot of people, I mean if the weather was decent, I'm sure we'd have more people, but then this is also much. I think it was glad that your children are attending with you to understand the relevance of events like this .

@tipu curate

Yes, its who who need to teach them, and get them involved. Otherwise now a days, kids are not liking the old school.

I like ornate buildings. Roaming in the rain is great, and the most important thing is that calm is back after a difficult Covid pandemic.

so many people there..

Hello sir, I just came across your account, amazing posts with great quality pictures. I’m new here and I’m learning a lot by seeing your posts.

You know, one thing i miss a lot since Covid came into our lives was the public displays of faith, in my city they were very common, but suddenly after the covid pandemic started, they died out and im still yet waiting for the holy mary parade to come back, it is gone and it has been soon 3 years without it... And i find it that it was part of my city simbols not only on faith but also on its people... Im amazed on how the Indians still do it and how lively they look, it is amazing and full of life, i guess i want that life back, the meaning before covid to come back after it... Big hug and blessings to your family and friends.

These are the moments that keeps us alive - I hope, the holy mary parade will come back this year ?

I hope too, is in November, and it was a really meaningful day for my family, specially since my grandma passed away, because she used to celebrate it like if it was Christmas, she did a family dinner and prayers, we all shared and when she was gone, we each tried to do it in her honor, but eventually we stopped with covid limitations and pandemic... So I miss the family time with all my cousins, aunts and uncles, trying to keep the tradition going, as a gift to the family of tomorrow.

Covid took away many things, we will get back to normalcy by this year.

May the creator hear your words, so it becomes reality. Blessings to your family :)
