CBRS Podcast Episode 37 Recap: Hive Vibes, Dapplist Drama, and New Ideas

Hey Hive community, we’re back with another exciting episode of the CBRS #Podcast, straight from our studio! Episode 37 was packed with updates, some spicy moments, and big plans for the future. Here’s what we covered, in our own words, keeping it simple and #fun!

Dapplist Update: Moon Karts and a Scammer Alert

We kicked things off with the Dapplist, where we promoted #MoonKarts this week. The community showed up big time, with 151 upvotes, one of the highest yet! But, we hit a bit of a snag. The Moon Karts team didn’t jump in to spread the word on Discord, X, or Hive, which was a bummer. We were hoping for a bigger wave of support, but just before recording, they apologized for being busy and promised to share the post now. Better late than never, right?

Now, here’s the not-so-cool part: we spotted 20 scam accounts trying to game the system. These accounts, created minutes apart, all voted for Moon Karts and posted screenshots like clockwork. Nope, not gonna fly!

Hive-Echo: Smashing Records

The @HiveEcho initiative is on fire! This week, we hit a new record with 190 comments and 104 entries in the wheel of names. We love seeing the community embrace the daily posting system. The more you post (Monday to Friday), the more entries you get for rewards. Some folks are even racking up four or five entries, consistency pays off! If you’re new to @Hive-Echo, check out our Mastering Hive Echo article for all the details on how it works on ECENCY or on PEAKD.

One quick tip: when you share your stats (like from TikTok or Instagram), please include the date in one comment, not multiple comments for each days stats. It makes our lives easier when we’re checking everything manually. Oh, and don’t post on Saturday or Sunday, those are our chill days for gathering stats. Also, a heads-up: new accounts (less than 30 days old) can’t join yet due to scam prevention, but we’re thinking about tweaking that rule to help newbies get involved sooner. Stay tuned!

Wheel of Names: Big Wins!

Onboarding New Hive Users

We’re super excited about the 53 new users who joined Hive in just three days via checkinwith.xyz that’s a 45% increase in newbies! If this keeps up, we could see 3,000 to 4,000 new users in a year. To make onboarding even better, we brainstormed a cool idea: give new users a choice between a quick onboarding post (just a photo and short intro) or a full one with a questionnaire. The full version would ask things like, “What got you interested in Hive?” or “What’s your niche?” This would create a proper intro post, helping communities spot newbies with shared interests like photography or gaming and guide them to the right groups.

We also suggested adding this as a task in the onboarding process, with a reminder to complete it later if users choose the quick option. Imagine a new user posting, “I love photography,” and the photography community jumping in to welcome them. It’s all about making Hive feel like home from day one!

Zypto on Hive

We also talked about a recent AMA on Hive Discord with the @Zypto team, facilitated by @crimsonclad. ZYpto is working on debit cards and other payment solutions that let you spend your HIVE and HBD in real life. How awesome is that? You can pay for utilities, groceries, and more. Check out their Hive account (@zYpto) or the Hive Discord voice channel for a recording of the AMA and details on fees. We’re pumped to see more ways to use Hive in everyday life!

Happy Customer Supermarket and PeakD’s Proposal

Big shoutout to Happy Customer Supermarket, which paid back 150 HBD of their 1,500 HBD loan, proof that their cashback model is working! Customers get 20–40% cashback on groceries, and it’s a perfect example of a real-world use case for Hive. We can’t wait to see more projects like this, especially in Europe, where crypto-friendly businesses are growing.

We also touched on PeakD’s DHF proposal for a customizable website builder on Hive. We do have some opensource projects related to that. So far we have a not finnished project by @bambukah called SuperHive. It’s like WordPress but connected to Hive, where you can drag and drop to create your own site. We also got @Engrave or BreakawayCommunities (used by @SkateHive), where I think you need some coding skills to design it the way you want. We hope PeakD makes their platform fully open-source to avoid any risks if they ever step away. Open-source is the Hive way!

Hive on a New Exchange

Great news! Hive got listed on LCX, another exchange! It’s not huge yet, but every listing helps spread the word about our favorite blockchain. Keep it growing, Hive!

Random Fun: UFC, Couches, and 3D Printing

We couldn’t resist some off-topic fun. We geeked out about UFC, especially Ilia Topuria knocking out champs like Max Holloway and eyeing a fight with Islam Makhachev. We also laughed about the “Liver King” challenging Joe Rogan :)) good luck with that, buddy! Joe’s a martial arts beast.

On a personal note, we got a new couch for the studio, and we’re stoked for fake onboarding starting tomorrow (JOKE 😁). Oh, and we tried our 3D printer for the first time! It was a bit scary, half a ship printed, and we learned we don’t need 70 euros worth of alcohol for water-washable resin. Live and learn, right?

What’s Next?

We’re pumped for next week’s podcast, where we might onboard Sam’s Airbnb live on air! Sam’s sticking around, so we’ll film it properly, maybe even with a Hive Thrive event on July 20th. Plus, the weather’s hot (32°C!), and we’re loving the vibe. Chatting with customers and planning barista training for a new café venture. Who knows, maybe we’ll start hosting community events there!
