A small video with a brief overview of the SPK Network. This recording was taken from the AMA that was held last week.

Here are the diagrams mentioned in the video:

I appreciate this video and I'm glad you did the AMA and pulled this clip out.

I believe I represent what I call a "Hive/Crypto/DeFi 'layman'." I'm basically a 'common man.' I've been on Hive for about a month and so far I understand almost nothing about Speak, nor the complex moving parts, nor the diagrams in the post above. This isn't your fault, it's my ignorance and lack of knowledge, but I believe it's the same ignorance and lack of knowledge many other people will have.

For example, I can't follow any discussion because there are countless terms thrown around that all seem like greek to me.

  • I don't know what a 'pool' is or what it's for.
  • I don't know what an 'IPFS' is, what it stands for, or what it's purpose is for.
  • Same goes for SIP. I have a vague grasp of miners, but most of the friends I'd like to bring to have care about incentives a lot and mining not at all.
  • I don't understand why there's 1000s of coins/tokens, and more created every day.
  • These are issues & barriers to entry for @cynshineonline & my off-Hive friends, as well.

I'm not saying this to be a d**k, nor to get others to explain SPK to me (hopefully my Beginner's Guide To Hive demonstrates my passion for Doing My Own Research,) I'm mentioning it because when a new initiative is aiming for mass adoption, 'dumbing it down' into easily-consumed and understood messages is extremely important.

I get a great vibe from SPK, and I'd love for it to gain a lot of traction fast. In fact, I'm excited to be collab'ing with @theycallmedan , @eddiespino , and @starkerz on a related project, but I wanted to point out that for someone like me, it feels like I'm going to have to take a University course and studying coding & crypto mechanics to understand it.

Now, a hiver like me may not be the target audience at all, and I totally get it if I'm the poet who accidentally wandered into an engineering convention, but I figured I'd share my perspective.

Anyway, gonna try and wade through the SPK whitepaper for a bit and revisit when I'm more knowledgeable.

Wishing SPK tons of success and I'll do what I can to help. Wishing you a great day. 🙏

Hello @ryzeonline

Thank you for your comment. Some of the questions you have will be answered in the videos that we will upload soon. We have at least 8 more videos talking about the SPK Network.

The SPK Network will be for everybody to use. Maybe not all will be miners or run their own storage node, but everyone in Hive will be able to use it in one way or another. For example, at the moment, you can store text in Hive in a decentralized manner, but for images and videos is another story. They are stored in private or centralized servers, many times run by the Hive frontends.

The SPK Network is going to help store images and videos in a decentralized way. That's the main purpose for end-users. This will bring censorship resistance and true decentralization of our infomation.

Definition of IPFS:

InterPlanetary File System
The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) is a protocol and peer-to-peer network for storing and sharing data in a distributed file system.

Thanks for this helpful and prompt reply!

I look forward to future videos, I followed, thank you.

So I'm understanding that SPK provides value and opportunities for miners, storage nodes, and even users, with it's main benefit being decentralized storage of pixel-data & censorship-resistance? I'm so glad this is clearer for me now.

Also thank you for expanding the definition of IPFS, I was able to find more about it here now: https://ipfs.io/

I really appreciate your answers, thanks again! 🙏

We are resuming the videos tomorrow. Thank you for your comments and sorry for the late reply.

I'm looking forward to it!

And it's all good, 'life happens.' I appreciate any reply whenever you're able to do so. Thank you once more. 🙏

Also, if I'm understanding you correctly, this image I made explains the main, primary, most-universal value-proposition for SPK to the lay-person, yes?

050_Decentralized_Video.png

Yes! That's the idea, and not only for videos, but for images too! Your image is very cool. It's a little bit more complicated because it involves tokenomics and other aspects, but that's the main idea.

Also, we want a system where Sam, Joe, Toff, Mia, Mike, etc., are incentivized for storing the videos in the local PCs or dedicated servers.

Excellent, I'm glad I understand SPK clearer now, thank you.

(And I'm glad you like the image!)

I understand that there are tokenomics and incentivized storage as well, but I wouldn't 'cram' those things into this image, they're better suited to another, separate image.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help and explanations! 🙏

I agree. Adding all the information in just one image could create a lot of confusion.

Glad we're on the same page!

Would you say this image covers the 'incentivization' aspect reasonably well?

I appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance!
