Thanks for this! Really excited to see how it goes. I will for sure be one that would rent out the cards. That is actually how I was able to get my kids actively into crypto this Christmas using Splinterlands. My daughter loves these kind of games, but my son is more on the RPG and action games, but LOVED the idea of owning and renting the cards like real estate. That is where you are going to get a ton of people engaging in this space and it's awesome to be in on the ground floor!

Sounds like this game is going to be intense, I like it. Will have to see how high the stakes are if I have the nerve to battle myself, but will definitely be renting out at least. Really looking forward to get involved with the testnet, so I can get a feel for it before going live!

I don't think the ghost piece is a great idea anymore.
If the positioning is exactly like chess people are going to cheat at the chess part with grandmaster analysis.
I guess analysis like this will be used anyway... luckily it will only help a small percent of the time.
Are you implying that players can forfeit the game to stop their king from taking damage?
Or is one king going to die every game no matter what?
That's an interesting idea, besides surrendering at the beginning of the game which I believe it's already included and was talked about in the long presentation of the game.
A player can forfeit anytime without taking damage to their king. We have debated if a tiny amount of damage should be done. Will revisit this in testing.
This would be great. I missed out on splinsterland because I thought it was complicated, but I just realized it was because I didn't start with them. This is an opportunity to start with Ragnarok. Nice one. Compliment of the season.

That image sets such a serious tone, and that makes me chuckle every time.
If there is a max number of NFTs, with a max level each, does that mean it is possible to calculate the theoretical number of battles needed to get to full max cards? In other words, can the game eventually max out?
There will be an Alternative Advancement system, think Everquest. These will cost exp. AA's can be expanded and expanded to continue to give exp coins value after all are capped. But the mining process will take years, and with spells, weapons, which both can have alternative variations "trees" - and people will likely want to play around with diff setups. Unstacking exp coins come with a fee, which will keep demand there.
The goal is to allow the feeling of accomplishment IE, I powered up my deck, and it stays powered up without losing value for exp coins.
I think it all depends on how much fun the game is :)
I could imagine because of the unique game design it could build a strong core community around it.
But for casuals it could be difficult to have success as far can see :)

What ELO/ MMR + match-making system will be used?
There is a change to abuse ELO/ MMR games at times not many people play. If you earn more Coins for longer games, you can play yourself.
Because of the Return in EXP coins, it could be profitable because of the ranking.
The Match Making system is something I'm really interested in.

Thanks for talking about the coins one can earn by playing, the yearly tournament would bring a sense of competition considering the fact that people wouldn't just want to put up their cards for rentals alone but they'll have to play because the tournament would make people want to play rather than just having the game alone for passive Income.
Talking about the in-game cards were even thrilling for me, for one, I felt every bronze card would be a common card or so, but since a card can be bronze and still rare makes it even better. Of course a gold card would always be rare and maybe legendary, I was somehow thinking that one needs to understand the technical jargon behind the cards to svtuat Understand how to utilise them, either for playing or renting dem out.
The passive aspect of equally as attractive as the gaming aspect and I like the fact that the game itself would provide for all aspect of players, both new and existing.
@edicted's post pretty much asks questions based on some of the viable concerns, but it was even better to get enough clarity from these questions. I'll have to bookmark this one to actually make reference to it at every point in time.

This sounds very interesting....and really made me more excited for the game launch. I belive that those haveinh gaming talent definately going to make use of the game but at same time those who are unable to get into gaming may too make money by renting out their assets....(assets here refer cards). ....this implies the game is for everyone....just own an asset and put it into rentingbto earn passive income....thT definately add fuel to the fire in the game......looking forward for thr game launch ...hopefully I get hold of some powerful cards in begining.....🙂

i know its not your problem. but thoughts on low liquidity for pristine hive on beeswap? i tried swapping swap.hive for hive and the liquidity was a joke. it felt like i was nickel and diming with a corporate bank. kinda sucks especially with the upcoming airdrop.
