Grow unto maturity

This year God has urged us through His word to grow above the elementary principles or teachings and move into the maturity of reflecting Christlike character.

Many believers like talking about faith, repentance, salvation, and baptism without exercising them to the world; only the intellectual understanding is being seen or heard, but the practical aspect of it is not seen. God is calling us this morning to have a deeper understanding of His Word. Let's not talk about the principles, let's move into doing them. Love God with your heart, and love people. As believers, we should learn to exercise faith, just like Abraham applied faith when God told him to bring His sacrificial lamb. He took his only son to offer a sacrifice. Remember, when his son asked him where the lamb was Abraham answered him and said, the lord will provide. This was Abraham exercising faith, and it was counted for him.

There are many things God expects us to exhibit as believers. Many preach love, but they don't love others nor love God; this is the type of thing God wants us to move away from and pursue maturity in every sense of the word.

Reading down from this chapter, God said it would be a shameful thing to have tested the heavenly gift and gone back to the world. God said we should continue in the good works, to bring the purpose of God to fulfillment.

Hebrews 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Hebrews 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.
Hebrews 6:3 And this will we do, if God permits.
Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Hebrews 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Hebrews 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Keep serving God, keep to his commandments, love Him and he will show forth for you in time of need.

I grew to see my elders dwelt on the elementary principles, which were the basics for Christians, but it seems they have stayed there for a very long time and couldn't practice it, the way God wants us to do. Truly speaking, it is good to search the scriptures by yourself, so you can know what God wants you to do for His purpose to come to pass.

Let's forge in pursuing maturity, obeying God's word, and keeping our faith intact for the sake of the gospel he established.

God's word centers on Jesus Christ to reveal who He is to us and the good works he has called us to walk with.

In all, we do this year, let Christ be revealed. God loves you.
