Religion refers to the worship of God. Religion is as old as man on earth and from time of old, different people always had their ways of worship which differed from each other. Some worship golden statues or molded images and others woship maybe a living thing like a tree or another another animal. However, there is the one true religion which is the Worship of the Lord God almighty.
Religion has been known to shape the beliefs of people at rhe different ends of the world but the book of james in the holy bible says that if you claim to be a religious person and your tongue and heart are not pure, then you are in the false religion or your religion is vain.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
In the true religion which Christ Jesus brought to us, one characteristic of worship is the worship of God in spirit and in truth. You must be sincere in your worship and it should be from the heart too.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
