The Bible teaches that the primary purpose of our existence is to know God, love Him, and live in relationship with Him. From the very beginning in Genesis, humanity was created in God's image (Genesis 1:27), not just for function but for fellowship. We are meant to reflect His nature, glorify Him, and enjoy His presence.
Ecclesiastes 12:13 sums it up clearly: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”
Our lives find true meaning not in material achievements or self-fulfillment alone, but in walking with God, obeying His word, and worshiping Him with our lives.
Our existence has a purpose tied to love and service. Jesus emphasized in Matthew 22:37-39 that the greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. This shows that our purpose isn't only vertical (toward God) but also horizontal (toward others). We were created to be a blessing, to serve, and to carry out God's will on earth spreading His light and truth. When we align our lives with this purpose, we begin to live with deeper peace, direction, and eternal significance.
God's purpose in creating us is for us to have a relationship with Him.
Walking with God and obeying His word is our true purpose.
