Speaking in tongues. // The old path

Speaking in tongues is one of those things in the Christian faith that feels deeply personal and spiritual. It’s not just about saying words you don’t understand it’s more about allowing the Holy Spirit to speak through you when your own words fall short. The first time this happened was in the Bible on the Day of Pentecost, when the disciples started speaking in different languages they had never learned. People from many nations heard them and were amazed.

Acts 2:4 says, “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

It was a powerful sign that God was present and working through them.

Apostle Paul also talked about this gift, and he made it clear that it’s something special between the believer and God. In

1 Corinthians 14:2, he said, “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God.”

This shows that it’s a way to connect with God on a deep level to pray, worship, or express things our hearts feel but our minds can’t put into words. While Paul encouraged order in how it’s used, especially in church settings, he never said it wasn’t important. For many Christians today, speaking in tongues is a comforting reminder that God is close and that the Holy Spirit is alive in their hearts.
