How do we overcome our doubts and anxieties? (Part 3 of 3) | The Old Path | MCGI

Bible references: Matthew 6:27, 1 Peter 5:7

In life, we tend to come across certain situations that tend to way us down and affect our mental wellbeing. This is the reason why we really need the help of God. It's only with the help of God that we can find refuge and protection from the evil that this world comes with.

Brother Eli, let's us know that for us to attain peace, we must cling unto God by following His commandments and keeping them in our hearts. God is fully aware that this world can't give us the peace we seek; that's why He made himself available to us if we desired Him.

Worrying and working yourself up is a complete waste of time. There's no amount of worry that can solve any problem or make any difference. We can see this in Matthew 6:27. It reads

(NIV) Can any one of you, by worrying, add a single hour to your life?

I recall when I was done with secondary school and was seeking admission into the university, but it seemed like it was not coming even after a series of trials. This really got me worked up and worried. But then I realized that no matter how much I worried, it brought no change; instead, it got me distabilized.

So I decided to take my mind off it while still pushing through. I came to the conclusion that if I hadn't gotten admission yet, it wasn't yet time, and it was all for the best. When the time was right, I finally got admitted, and now I am done with tertiary education.

And after going through my tertiary education, I realized that nothing is what killing yourself for. No challenge, no matter how great it may seem, is greater than God. So instead of having doubts and anxieties, present all your problems before God. 1 Peter 5:7 says

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

This is the right approach we are meant to take. Our reactions to situations go a long way toward how the outcome would be. If we channel our energy to worrying, we will only end up being faced with my reasons to worry. But if we do away with panic and channel all that energy to having faith in God to take care of our challenges, we'll see positive results.

God is solely behind us through every circumstance and is more than willing to come to our aid if and only if we give Him the opportunity.
