Whenever I think on the matter of forgiveness I think of the saying to err is human and to forgive is divine. It is in the human nature to offend people. At one point in our life we have come across people who have offended us in one way or the other either from without or even in our family within. Some people find it impossible to forgive due to the magnitude of what the person may have done to us.
No one is perfect. We likewise have some people we may have offended either knowingly or unknowingly, so we are not excluded or exempted in this matter. Sometimes forgiving can be quite difficult, that is why the saying tells us that to forgive is divine. Most times it takes the divine ability for us to forgive others.
Matthew 18:21 - Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”
22.Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.
Some of us find it difficult to forgive certain people because we may have given them multiple chances already yet they still offend us. But the scripture says our ability to forgive other should be without a limit
Luke 23:34 - Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
If Jesus can willingly forgave those who persecuted him we should be able to forgive as well. Unforgiveness is a burden that exerts a lot of weight on our hearts. And one thing that God desires from us is a pure heart that is void of what he doesn't like, and unforgiveness is one of them.
Forgiveness is a sign of love.
Forgiveness should bring forgetting
When we say we love one another we should also learn to forgive and be of good cherr
Love cannot be validated without forgiveness.
