A beginner's guide to reading the Bible| The Old Path

God's word is the believers manual here on earth. God made available His word for us so that we should read it. We are to form a habit of reading God's word daily. It's quite sad that a lot of believers do not read the Word. The only time they have the chance to read the Bible is when they are in church, which is not supposed to be so.

We don't just read God's Word and stop there. We go further to study it. Forming the habit of reading God's Word is not enough, we should as well form the habit of studying His Word day by day. Another thing that is expected of us to do as believers is to meditate on the Word of God. When we constantly meditate on the Word of God we drive it into our spirits.

Colosians 3:16 - Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

After meditating on the Word of God we then confess it. To confess the Word of God is to speak it back to ourselves. Confessing the Word and meditating on the Word goes hand in hand. And very importantly, we should not forget to live the Word. We live the Word by applying it to our lives daily. It is not just enough to read, study, confess and meditate on the Word of God, people need to see the Word being applied in our lives.
