Solution to Hardships and Sufferings (Part 2 of 3) | The Old Path

I came to understand in this video that sometimes God may allow hardships to come to us to teach us patience. Patience, as we know it, is a virtue. God may have something good for us, but it will require us to go through the process, and through that process we may experience hard times.

In this situation, patience is to be exercised. However, brother Eli lets us know that not all hardships come from God. We are taken to the book of 2 Thessalonians 1:6, which says:

(6). God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you. (7). and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels.

In this passage, we see that God is promising judgment against those who afflicted the church. This means there are some afflictions that men are responsible for, and not God. God, being a just God, as stated in verse 6, promises to carry out justice on those people.

We live in a wicked world. A world where people derive pleasure in afflicting others for no just reason. You don't necessarily need to offend someone before you have an enemy. But it's not the same case with God. God can never afflict us without a cause. That is injustice, and that is not the person of God.

Afflictions may come as a result of our sins. Just like the Israelites. Whenever God allowed afflictions to come their way, it was only when they went astray. That was the reason for the afflictions they faced. If they had maintained a right standing with God throughout their journey with Moses to the promised land, they wouldn't have encountered any such afflictions.

We look into another passage concerning this matter, which is Lamentations 3:33.

For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone.

This is God's own word. Therefore, we should be careful before we start blaming God for certain afflictions we see ourselves facing. We should put some factors into consideration.

Factors like, is God really responsible for what I am facing? And if He is, then we should retrace our steps and find out if there's where we've gone wrong. Or we should inquire if He is taking us through a process.

The lack of knowledge concerning this matter often makes people misinterpret God during certain situations. Brother Eli helps to enlighten us through this video and readjust our mindset.

God bless you all!
