Hello… Good evening, plant and succulent lovers!! It’s been a while since I last shared with you all in the Succulent Growers community, led by @nikv, but today I want to show you some of the new species I picked up at a local fair in my city. I just hope you like them and enjoy seeing some of my latest additions. 🤗

Llevaba un tiempo sin publicar con ustedes la comunidad de Succulent Growers a cargo de @nikv, pero hoy quiero compartir algunas de las nuevas especies que adquirí en una feria de mi ciudad. Sólo espero que sea del agrado de todos y que disfruten de algunas de las siguientes adquisiciones. 🤗
To start, I’d like to say that cacti 🌵 are a passion of mine and a way to relieve stress at the beginning of the day. All the new species I bought are from the Astrophytum genus—even though I already have many in my collection, they’re always among my favorites.
Para iniciar, me apetece decirles que los cactus 🌵 para mi son una pasión y una forma de liberar el estrés al comenzar el día. Todas las especies que compre nuevas son del género Astrophytum, que a pesar de tener muchos en la colección, siempre son de mis favoritos.
As you can see, I have lots of little babies 😁—Myriostigma, Nudum, Capricorne, and even some two-year-old hybrids. Caring for them in the garden is like tending to tiny living sculptures lol. They need patience, plenty of sun, and just the right amount of water.
To be honest, I’d need several posts to show off my entire cactus collection (thanks to my family’s contributions!). For now, I hope you enjoy these photos of the newest Astrophytum additions to the nursery.
Como pueden observar, tengo muchos bebés 😁 entre myriostigma, Nudum, Capricorne y algunos híbridos de 2 años en crecimiento, donde cuidar de estos en el jardín es como preservar de pequeñas esculturas vivientes jjj, que requieren paciencia, sol y un riego moderado.
Para ser sincero necesitaría varias publicaciones para mostrar toda la colección de cactus que aporto familia, solo espero que disfruten de estas imágenes de los más recientes Astrophytum en el vivero.
Starting with the Astrophytum asterias 'Super Kabuto Type V'—a total fan favorite for its striking white-flecked style and beauty! These round, flattened little cuties lol are the darlings of collectors everywhere. They’re so densely covered in white flecks, they look like they’ve been dusted with snow.
Comenzando por el Typo V súper fans de su estilo y belleza de color blanco. Estos redondos, aplanados y pequeñas criaturas jj son los consentidos de los coleccionistas en general, al verse tan densos que parecen cubiertos de nieve.
They all need a bit of soil and a lot of sand—I mostly use river sand, which gives the pots great drainage. So far, it’s worked well for their growth, and I’ve even gotten to enjoy some flowers from the older ones in the nursery!
Todos necesitan ese poco de tierra y mucha arena, la que utilizo mayormente es de ríos, le dan buen drenaje al recipiente. Hasta ahora me ha resultado al avance de ellos y hasta de disfrutar de algunas flores en los más adultos del vivero.
This specimen shown below was born and grown in my collection, and in this 2025, it's one of my favorites—a hybrid, but I'm not sure which Astrophytum species to classify it under, lol. I leave that in the hands of @ewkaw and @nikv, who have more experience with cactus names.

Esta muestra a continuación, es nacida y germinada en mi colección y en este 2025 de mis favoritos, un híbrido pero no se en que especié de Astrophytum ponerlo jjj se lo dejo de la mano a @ewkaw y @nikv que tienen mas experiencia con los nombres de cactus.

This is a Gasteria gracilis variegata—I bought it for 800 pesos (Cuban national currency), which is roughly 3 or 4 HBD. It’s really pretty and resistant to the intense sun in my country.
@nikv, since you really like these types of plants... As you can see in the photos, I’ve also included a few others (slightly blurred) of mature plants, but different types like Gasteria batesiana.
Está Gasteria Gracilis Variegada la compre por 800 pesos moneda nacional en Cuba, son aproximadamente 3 o 4 HBD, es bien linda y resistente al sol fuerte de mi país.
@nikv a ti que te gustan mucho estos tipos de plantas. Como pueden ver en las fotos, pues difuminado presento otras adultas pero diferentes tipo como la "Batesiana".
While exploring the new species I’ve acquired, I came across these beautiful Adenium (desert rose) flowers—which, as you know, I absolutely love having in my collection. The first flower is particularly striking for its soft, delicate strawberry-pink color, aptly named ‘Purple Medal’.
The second one is called ‘Swallow’ (if I’m not mistaken). I grew it from seeds I got from Vietnam, and I never expected it to produce such a spectacular color!
En el recorrido por las nuevas especies obtenidas, me encontré de estas bellas flores de Adenium o rosa del desierto, que como también saben me encanta tenerlos en la colección. Esta primera flor, llama mucho la atención por su color rosado fresa, bien tierno y fino nombrado "Purple Medal".
La segunda es llamada Swallow, sino me equivocó pues la obtuve de unas semillas de Vietnam y nunca pensé que saliera ese color espectacular.
Pollinating cacti also yields great results. These specimens, born in my garden and hand-pollinated by me, are hybrids—and even mutants—though I’m not quite sure what to call them, @nikv. Their flower colors range from yellow with red-orange centers to yellow with pink centers.
Estar polinizando los cactus, también da buenos resultados, estas capturas de especies nacidas en el jardín, y polinizadas por mí son híbridos y bueno mutados, que tampoco se como llamarlos @nikv. Sus colores de flor son desde amarillas con el centro rojo y naranja o amarillas con centro rosado.
If any of the Hivers who love cacti or Astrophytum know the name of this next mutation, please leave it in the comments! This is another plant I grew from the seed trays in my garden.
La siguiente mutación si alguien de los Hivers amantes de los cactus o Astrophytum, sabe su nick ? puede dejarlo en los comentarios. Es otra de las plantas que obtuve en los semilleros del jardín.
This precious baby is a three-sided Myriostigma—a unique specimen I acquired at a plant swap during a national fair. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen this variety with three heads and a single root. Fascinating!
Its flower is typical for the Astrophytum species.
Esta bebe preciosa, de tres lados es un myrostigma único y lo adquirí en un Intercambio de plantas en ferias nacionales, no se si habían disfrutado alguna vez de este género con tres cabezas y una sola raíz 'Interesante'.
Su flor es normal como la especie Astrophytum.
Other hybrids in my collection include Superkabuto crosses with nudum—six-sided varieties that produce these absolute beauties. They blend angular shapes with rounded forms, creating seedlings full of surprises. These little gems could well become a new treasure for us cactus lovers!
Otros híbridos de la colección son los superkabutos pero mezclados con Nudum de 6 lados, que dan estas preciosuras. Creando formas de angular con lo redondo, estas plántulas son una sorpresa y un posible nuevo tesoro para nosotros los amantes.
The most majestic of all, for me, will always be the Ornatum—they must be in the collection. They are the greatest of the genus. Whether green or white, their strong golden spines will always stand out, with family elegance.
If you have one in your garden, let me know—and if not, it should be true.
El mas majestuoso de todos siempre para mí van a ser los Ornatum, deben estar en la colección, son los más grandes del género. Ya sea verde o blanco siempre resaltarán sus espinas doradas y fuertes, con elegancia familia.
Si tienes uno en tu jardín házmelo saber y sino es verdad.
Finally, I left you this rare Haworthia. I won it in a bet with other collectors lol, and honestly, it has worked out well for me—I’ve already gotten several pups from it to propagate the species.
It needs little water and sun, and it’s very adaptable to my climate.
Ya por último, les dejé esta rara Haworthia, la gané en una apuesta con otros coleccionistas jjjj, y la verdad que me ha resultado bien, ya le he sacado varios hijos para expandir la especie.
Es de poca agua, y sol, muy adaptable a mi clima.

I can look at your Astros all day! I think that your last plant is Aloe haworthioides, not Haworthia but you'll know for sure when it flowers. I'm going to put some of my Astros outside this year, depending on how the summer weather is, last summer was too cold and rainy and it was a good thing they were in the greenhouse. The mutations that I have seen on Astros are always cool! Many of them come from damage to the growth points by thrips or fungus, such as this one - you can see the scars
You are the first person I have seen that has bought adenium seeds and had good result with the flowers. Usually people end up disappointed because all of the fancy flowered types are hybrids and the seeds don't often produce something looking like the parent. Your pink one is an Adenium swazicum hybrid
Hey @nikv, these Astrophytum mutations are beautiful—I’m a huge fan of hybrids, especially the incredible mix between species here while pollinating lol.
As for the adeniums, even I was surprised when the flower bloomed! I bought those seeds almost 4 years ago from a friend who recommended a page from Vietnam. The colorations turned out quite nice.
Oh, right—this one is an Aloe Haworthia. I wasn’t entirely sure before, but I liked it so much I bought it haha.
