Various cacti from Gundaling hill, Berastagi

in Succulent growers2 years ago

Hello friends, succulent and cactus lovers, my post today is to continue my post a few days ago. A few days ago, I posted about the succulent Echeveria, this photo I got when I visited my friend's house in Gundaling Hill. Today I will post about various types of cacti. Some types of cacti that I Fofo have never seen before, there are some cacti that I think have a unique shape, similar to the male genitalia.

1.Red squirrel tail cactus (Aporocactus)
The red squirrel tail cactus has a body covered with sharp reddish thorns. The thorns found on the body of this cactus are in the form of thick fine thorns, although the thorns are smooth but once in contact with our skin they can cause itching. When the skin comes into contact with this type of cactus, the first aid we can do is to apply cooking oil to the area in contact with the spines of this cactus.

2.Pilosocereus cactus (Pilosocereus pachycladus)
Pilosocereus cactus also called blue cactus, there are turquoise, gray blue, light blue and pale blue, the body has sharp spikes. This cactus is similar to a cowboy cactus / starfruit cactus, the difference is that the starfruit cactus does not have many sharp thorns like Pilosocereus cactus.

4.Centong Cactus (Opuntia cochenillifera)
The body shape of this cactus is similar to a rice spoon, so many Javanese people call it Centong cactus (rice spoon). This cactus is edible, how to remove the thorns on the cactus, then wash it thoroughly until the sap is gone, then the cactus can be eaten, we can eat it raw or add chili sauce. My friend said that he had eaten this cactus before, it tastes like yam fruit but this cactus tastes more bland.
