Some art down by the Docks

In this post I shared soem shots of sculptures that are part of the New Bedford Seaport art walk displays, and this is a follow on from that to share a fewother art pieces that I believe are part of the same groups art on display.

starting of with some painted art, which those that follow me know I do love seeing art on public display so I had to get some shots of them to share

The first piec ei will share is The Bell Brothers by Jake Ginga
Looking up online I found out that Jake Ginga started working at an oyster farm when he was 19 years old. It was a small business was run by a shell fisherman for over four generations and while working there he learnt the meaning of Hard work.
In January 2021, two of the fishermen died and Jake Ginga channeled his grief into art, which is this piece his portrait of two men, which was in a gallery in New Bedford and has bene recreated for this display down by the port..

Next Up we have a detail shot of a piece called Heirs to the land
This artwork was created by Marcus Cusick and Kyle Couture of the Open Eye Movement, they worked with Chief George Spring Buffalo and Chief Daryl Black Eagle of the Pocasset,
I read that this mural brings to light the true histories that surround the Pokanoket nation.

This next shot does not really do justice to the piece which is very cool and I must head down to the port when it is a bit sunnier than when I took this shot early morning

It is entitled CAPping the Wave

The artist is Erin Meade, an art teacher at Keith Middle School in New Bedford, I may well have seen many of her creations over the years as I read she worked in NYC on window displays such as the windows at Macy’s, SAKS Fifth Avenue as well as small boutiques.

Her design for this piece which is 30-foot installation , incorporates all different types and sizes of plastic bottle caps which create movement and playfulness through a wave and whale form. I think this piece shows that trash can be become art and beauty.

The art works look great. I love the first piece most especially.

It shows passion and like you said, the artist channelled his anger to his work.

Just lovely!.

The first piece is my favorite also, and even more so when I read the motivation for it

Keep doing what you're doing. I like it
