Good afternoon friends! This is my entry to Dash Out Sunday. Sweet & Sour Chicken w/ Shrimp Fried Rice. This was pretty much a freestyle dish. When I started cooking I didn't really have any intentions on what I was making. I knew I had some left over sweet n sour sauce and some leftover white rice. I had some chicken thighs I put out to thaw from last night.
I cut up some garlic and tomatoes added to the pot with some oil. Like that cook up and added some seasoning.
I added the chicken let that cook for about 15-20 minutes. After that I added the sweet n sour sauce.
Gave it a good stir and let that cook down. After some time the chicken get nice and tender and the sauce thickened up. I added some water to stretch it out some.
Last but not least I made the fried rice. I added some olive oil to the frying pan. Then I dropped in the leftover white rice when the oil was nice and hot. After stirring it up for a bit I added some Worcestershire sauce to give it some color. I use that instead of soy sauce because it has less sodium (salt). I had some dehydrated baby shrimp skin which I soaked in water, which i also added to the rice. Close to completion i added 2 eggs, to nice up dih ting.
And here you have it my Sunday dinner.
Madd ting ina chiny style. I never tried making sweet and sour yet even though it is one of my favorites. I've been trying to figure out what sauce the Chinese use to get that distinct friend rice taste. I wonder if a it that you use?
Thanks bredren. It might be it because the first thing muh wife seh,was "this meal taste like Chinese food"
