Splinterlands: Our Latest Guild Brawl and Buying Gladiator Cases

in THGamingyesterday

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! Our guild just concluded another brawl. My post today covers the results, the rewards we earned and my purchase and opening of Gladiator cases.

Brawl Performance and Guild Rank

My performance this time is not as good as I wanted. I only won three battles and lost four. I was able to earn 4,295 Merits and 63 SPS. This is a substantial addition to my SPS haul for the week since I only earn around one SPS per win.

In spite of my poor performance our guild still ranked fourth. We earned 82 crowns which we can use to upgrade our guild buildings. Upgrading buildings give members benefits like a glint and SPS multiplier in won battles.

Buying and Opening Gladius Cases

I have over 15k Merits which I used to buy seven Gladius cases. Each Gladius case contain five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. This means that I'll have thirty five new cards that will be added to my deck to upgrade them. I hope I'll get at least one legendary card this time. I haven't been able to get one for weeks.

My sour luck continues with no legendary card in sight.

Featured Battle

Battle Against Dar Gottem Gearnut

In another battle with my Dragon splinter, this time I chose Water to pair it with. My team has Commander Slade at tank position followed by Night Reaper. Both units are levelled up to match my archon's level and ideal in this ruleset. Here's the breakdown of my team.

Commander Slade

Commander Slade deals four melee damage and insanely fast with five speed. He's a great tank with six armor and nine health. His abilities include Enfeeble which decreases the enemy tank's melee damage and Dodge which complements his speed. His weakness is his lack of defense against magic attack but since the ruleset discourages use of magic units, this is a great chance to use him.

Night Reaper

Night Reaper is a magic unit but can be a good alternative tank. It deals three magic damage and has four speed. It has an armor and huge health of ten. It has flying ability that can enable it to dodge physical attacks. The ruleset includes Counterspell which discourages use of magic attackers but Night Reaper has Deflect ability that offsets the ruleset.

Isgald Vorst

Isgald Vorst is my gladiator card in this battle. He deals four melee damage and has the Opportunity ability. I chose him to combo with my other unit that has the same ability.

Dragon Egg Forager

Dragon Egg Forager only deals two melee damage but is a good unit to combo with Isgald since they both target the enemy's low health units. Also, this unit has the Scavenger ability which increases its health as both allied and enemy units get defeated.

Chaos Battle Mage

Chaos Battle Mage deals three ranged damage and has four speed. It has Piercing ability that enables damage to go through armor and Rebirth which allows it to resurrect once per battle.

Syrenth

A staple of my strategy is having a Taunt unit. Syrenth fills this role aside from dealing four ranged damage. It also has the Dodge ability increasing its chances to survive.

Enemy Team

The enemy team features a strong frontline combo. He has the legendary card Dar Gottem Gearnut know for his insane health. This makes him a truly beefy tank. It's followed by an epic gladiator card, Marisol Contuma who deals five melee damage. He also had Olivia of the Brook, the first unit who had the Mimic ability.

The Battle

The enemy had a strong frontline but luckily I had a couple of units that had the Opportunity ability. My team targetted the enemy's low health units including Olivia. This strategy enabled my team to trim down his damage dealers quickly while my own frontline handle the enemy's. My tank was eliminated first but the enemy's backline was decimated. It was a battle of attrition where the enemy's backline was defeated faster than my front.

Final Thoughts

It was another successful brawl. I may not have gotten my desired legendary cards but I appreciate the SPS that I earned. Guild brawls are also fun, giving me the chance to play more battles while contributing to our efforts. That's it for this brawl, thanks for reading and see you in the next report!
