Kassiopi - Corfu Island (photo story)

in TravelFeed4 years ago

Kassiopi, village located in north east coast of Corfu. Historically, a small traditional fishing village, now really nice place for a vacation.

@fotostef few days ago published a post about Corfu town, and that kinda pushed me to finish editing my vacation photos. 7 months ago, not bad at all :D

Most of this photos are taken on the same day, as it was a bit cold and windy so we decided to skip beach and go on a walk around.

First few photos are taken from Byzantine-period castle overseeing Kassiopi. The town was built around it, and you can get nice overview of the whole town. I did not think much about the photo above when i took it, but it ended up as one of my favorite photos of the town.

From what i seen Bataria Beach looks like "official" beach of Kassiopi, but you can find 4-5 small beaches that are not hard to access and are really beautiful. We were there in the end of September and the amount of people was just right. Last few days weather was so-so and from my experience i feel that begining of September is the best time to be there (if you like swimming and all the beach stuff)

I was really lucky while taking photos on this spot. Was trying to get longer exposures so i used ND filter and used my photo bag as a tripod. There was a stairs like rock formation and i was far enough from the water, at leas i thought so. Well not really. One of the waves hit the first "stair" continued to the second. You can see it on the gif animation, you can't hear how i screamed :D

I was lucky that the camera was on the bag, as water hit the bag and the bag was soaked with water. Camera ended up with with few drops of water on it. If it was not on the bag it would get full wave splash and electronics and salt water are not best friends

This was accidental as i went to get some night photos. Think the people from the Sailboat fire it. And just few minutes before i was standing beside them with my tripod. It would be great if they told me about the fireworks, maybe i would be able to get that nice building + castle + fireworks. So the photo is from the place i was when fireworks started, and i had no idea how long will it be, so i did not want to move.

Overall, Kassiopi, as the whole Corfu island, is a really beautiful place, and should be visited if you get a chance. People are really nice and everyone was welcoming. The manager of the place even let us stay one day more for free.

We were there by car, but my recommendation would be, get there by plane and rent some of the small cars that are there. There are a lot of rentals and if you get to Corfu it would be pity to not try and see as much as you can.

Away from all the noise and pollution in the city it's really a good place for a vacation.

Manually curated by EwkaW from the Qurator Team. Keep up the good work!

It turned out pretty nice that you skipped beach, great shots! Especially the ones of the castle are superb!
And 7 months is a split of a second compared to eternity :)

it is interesting that on this trip with a lot of planed shots (most of them sunrises) i was not satisfied, i thought i will do better :D and a lot of the shots i love were in the moment.

I will share my sidari canal d'amour shots, i was almost forcing it, think it has so much potential for photography, and i got some nice ones, but i think i never found that angle of spectacular :D

a lot of the shots i love were in the moment.

Very often it works like that!
Looking forward for the Sidari shots, I haven't been there!
